Can someone help me out here please? I'm confused..

I just made hotel reservations (and separate ticket reservations for 1 park ticket) for a trip that is 17 days away. I am not able to choose a magic band color or even have a magic band listed in the account for this trip. Is this because the trip is too soon from when I made the reservations? Or is it because I didn't purchase the ticket and room together? Or did I do something wrong?

I was able to make fast passes so I know that I have a room and I am tickets, but I am not able to do anything involving magic bands. What is going on?

My guess is that the dates for your trip are too soon. We've usually received our MBs about 2 - 3 weeks prior to our trips. It could also have something to do with the recent "upgrade" they did to the reservation system. You didn't do anything wrong, and since you can make fast passes, you should be all set.
 
You will get Magic Bands at check-in, but you will not be able to customize them because there isn't time to fulfill from the MB fulfillment center.
 
Thank you all so much. I was freaking out and I even chatted with the Disney chatline, but from previous experience they don't always know the best answer.

We made reservations on 11/11 for a check in on 11/27: 16 days out. We do not have tickets (purchasing annual passes when we arrive) and I was able to decline my magic band (I have a character one attached to my MDE) but I couldn't decline DH magic band. In fact, his wasn't even showing in his account. I thought maybe I needed to personalize it to decline it but when I did, the option to do anything to it poofed on my account. Reservation is in my name. We received it in the mail about a week ago and I have this massive RED alert that his magic band is on the way that won't delete!

So it's not too close and it doesn't have anything to do with tickets ;) I'd call. I am going to if that
HUGE RED alert doesn't go away after our trip.

I got the same RED alert when my MagicBand was on it's way. I have the MagicBand and it's active in my MDE, so I don't know why the RED alert doesn't go away, it just doesn't. It did the same thing when I got my Annual Pass--didn't go away until this new MagicBand RED alert showed up. I wouldn't worry about it.
 
I wonder if something is going on with the Disney website. I've had a red alert about our MagicBands for at least a month, I'm not able to activate or deactivate any of our bands, either. I'm hoping it clears up soon or I'll have to call before we leave on our trip in a few days.
 
I booked that close in for last February and got the MB to personalize, and it was waiting for me at the resort. So something has gone awry.

As for the red alerts, that's been the case for me for ages. They come and go and there's nothing I can do to get rid of them.
 
We booked a trip last fall only 2 weeks out (also a room only with separate tickets) and were able to customize our bands and received them in the mail. I would call and talk to someone and see if they can help.
