Can Someone Explain This Mentality?

We did Stay and Scream yesterday, and the lines for most of the houses were minimal for the first hour or so. Thus we did all that we could before using our Express Passes when they climbed up to half an hour or more.

As we waited in 5 and 10 minute lines, people actually went breezing by with their Express Passes!! What the bleep?! Don't they realize they can only use them once, and that the wait times are only going to go up? I suppose I should be glad because that means their butt won't be in front of me later in the night when I am using my own EP, but don't they have any common sense? DH and I and many others in the standby lines were just shaking our heads at the dwindling brain power of our fellow humans.

People do the same thing on normal days. They use their express pass when they don't have to. Makes you wonder.

I guess they want everyone to see they have the EP. I don't use mine unless the wait is 20 mins or more.

Maybe they only have a very limited time in which to see all they want to see. If they're first-time visitors and they'll only have a day or so to visit both parks (or a couple hours for S&S, before going home to the kids' sitter), saving 10 minutes per attraction could actually seem to make sense to them. :confused3

"I paid for it, I'm going to use it"

That's the mentality. Shoot, when I brought Ad to USF/IOA, we had express and we still had no problem waiting for lines that were less than 20 mins.

What's scary is that sometimes (and this has happened more times than I can count) the express line will be LONGER than the regular line!

I could see saving 10 mins. if you are in a rush, but on some of the houses there was NO wait!! It was just as fast as you could walk to the door! If I only had time do do 'em once, I'd just do 'em standby (or at least the walk-in ones) and then give my EP to someone on the way out to use later when the lines get obnoxious. We don't use our HHN EPs for the rides since we have Premier Passes and get plenty of ride time, so I've given them to others on busy nights...usually they stare at me like a deer in headlights tho', so I wonder if they've ever used 'em or if they think it's some kind of trick.

I've see similar behavior at Disney where I tend to grab fast passes for a few choice attractions....at times, the stand-by line is the same amount of time as the time before the return time of the passes they are giving out. So say the wait time at 12:30 is 30 minutes standby, the fast pass return is 1:00-2:00 and instead of grabbing a fast pass and doing something else or another attraction, many people will stand and wait. Now, some may have fast passes elsewhere and aren't ABLE to get one, but my bet is more often than not that's not the case! :rolleyes1

Silly, people are.

These are same type of people who complain if they don't get on the ride within 1 minute of entering the Express line.

Today at my attraction, the Express Line is seperate from the regular line, and there's a sign on the express line saying "please wait for assistance." So I saw that they were there, made a mental note to go get express on the next dispatch, and this one time we had a slight delay for dispatching.

So the guests jump the line, walk up and say "we've been standing in express and you've ignored us." I said "I'll get you on the very next one, just wait 1 moment." they where like "why?" by then the next vehicle was ready, so i just put them on.

They literally waited about 1- 2 mminutes. Geez people. Don't know what you would do if you're out at dinner, and the food takes 10 minutes! OMG!

Don't worry Tim....you know that WE have your back :thumbsup2 Express doesn't mean instant gratification :sad2: Some people :sad2:

We had EP's for HHN on 6th October. We went to The Thing and the wait time said 10 minutes so we went in the normal line and planned to us the EP later. After waiting for 20 minutes with the line hardly moving we went back to the entrance, used the EP and got through in less than 5 minutes. We walked past the people who were infront of us in the normal line and they had only moved a few feet.

A similar thing happened at Jack's Funhouse. Wait time said 15 minutes, we waited nearly 30 minutes in the normal line. Back to the entrance, EP and in really quickly.

We could have saved nearly half an hour if we had used the EP's straight away.

We used the EP for every house and didn't wait more than 5 minutes. We didn't take the chance again and saw almost everything, including all the shows. We missed out on Dead Silence and Psychoscareapy (forgot about Psycho and ran out of time to see Dead Silence) and had a fantastic night.

We were so glad we got the EP's.

This is inkkognito posting on hubby's computer:

Okay, I confess: We used EPs at a walk-in house tonight! I was tricked into it though...we had done Mary Shaw multiple times because it had no line at all, even though there was a 15 min. posted time. Then we went to Psychoscarapy, which we hadn't used EP for yet because we'd done it multiple times with no line at opening. The posted wait was 20 mins. so I asked the TMs at the gate and they said, "Yes, use EP because there is a wait." NOPE!! No wait! Nada! Zip! Sure wish we hadn't been there for hours and my feet weren't ready to fall off because we would have done it a couple more times, but I just couldn't take the commando pace anymore.

Um, maybe some people feel the need to only see the haunted houses once. Also, if they've been at the park all day, they might just be saving their feet the hassle. You still have to walk the maze even if the line and wait time is minimal. Straight in is always better than the maze. Maybe... just maybe, some of those people using those EPs were actually using their heads. :confused3

Could be, but if that were the case for me, I'd just do 'em all once without the wait and then give my EP to someone as I was leaving so they could use it later when the lines get long. I belive in "passing it forward" when possible, so I'd save it to give away, use standby, and chalk up the somewhat longer walks up to working those fried Oreos (mmmmm!) off my butt.

We will do this for Everest or Rock n Roller for the double ride.

Me too...it's a great way to get in some marathon riding on Soarin' in the off-season. Grab a FP, go through standby once or twice, get new FP, ride with old one, rinse and repeat till standby makes it up to some obnoxious time. DH and I managed to ride it 8 times in a row that way in Sept.

I walked the incredibly long line to the Thing in the regular line next to people walking in the express line and arrived at the entrance at exactly the same time. I let them go first so they would feel better about it.
I did the Jimmy Nuetron area stay and scream and opted to express because the line was back behind the Jimmy building. The first hour is far too precious to have that kind of wait for the first/only house to open early.
