I have seen the site for the photopass, but I don't understand exactly what it is. I think the CM's will take your pictures and then they are available online after your trip?? Is that right? Do you have to sign up for this?

Any information will be greatly appreciated!!!

When you enter any park go to one of the people taking photos as you enter and tell them you want a photopass. After that any time you have them take your picture give them the card. When you get home you can view them online and can even print them. We bought lots of the pixs and then about a week later they emailed us that if we wanted any others we could have them at a big discount. This year we will only order a couple and then wait for them to give us the cheaper price.

Just wanted to add something- Make sure to write down the ID number off the Photo Pass you are using. If you happen to misplace the photopass card, you will not be able to look at your pictures when you get home. We loved the Photopass! Also, don't worry about looking at the pictures at the end of the day (like the CM will tell you to do) Just wait till you get home. That way, you can look at all of the pictures from all of the parks at one time.

Does it cost anything to have a photopass just to view them on-line ?

I'd like to know the answer to this question as well.... Please tell!! :earsboy:

It is free to look at the pictures on line. You can also email them to friends.

You can print them; however, you will get the entire screen--not just the picture. And, obviously, it is protected therefore you cannot right click, copy, and paste.

I'm not ordering any of them due to the cost; however, I'm curious to see if I get any e-mails about discounts. Thanks for that info.

My favorite picture is the one that is taken in front of Cinderella's Castle in the MK. The photographer makes everyone put their hands together and then they "photoshop" a picture of Tinkerbell into the photo. That one is my favorite.

I waited to view all of mine at home as well and shared them with family. There is also an option to add captions and some Disney borders.

no, rides are not part of it.

Thank you! Thank you!! I have been driving myself crazy looking for where you might have to "sign-up" before the trip! I can't wait to see the pictures the CM's take... Ours always turn out good enough, but there's just one thing.... I'm always taking them, so I'm never in any!!!

Years from now the kids will say, " Where were you during the trip, Mom?" :rotfl: :confused3 :rotfl:

So this is available to anyone? Not part of a package deal? Great!

Yes, it is available to everyone. The first time you get you picture taken you'll be given a plastic card with the ID on it. Going forward, whenever you see CMs taking pictures, give them your card so they can put those pictures right on the same card (instead of giving you new numbers).

Usually the CMs (photographers) are at the entrace to the parks, so you can get good pictures with the castle in the background, Epcot, etc. I also saw them around the character greetings.

The pics are only available on line for 30 days after the first time you log into them.

I will say that I was disappointed in the photo pass pix. Not that they were BAD...they just looked the same as what DH was taking. I thought that some how they'd look better. We only bought one...of the whole family in front of the castle.

Another thing is that the CM will also take one with your camera. We didn't think of that until one asked to take with our camera first. Cost is $12.95 for 5x7 - great boarders to commemorate your trip. Our favorite picture was DD in front of the castle with Tinkerbell photoshoped in her hand. Lots of great opportunities in front of rides, landmarks, and character tents.

They are only available for 30 days from when you first log in, not from the end of your trip. We had our niece with on this last trip so we gave her mom the photopass info and her mom was able to view our pictures every night at home and keep track of us.

If you wait a few weeks, they start sending you emails with discounted prices on the passes. I would just wait a few weeks before ordering in hopes of getting a discount email since the pictures are pricey.

Can anyone tell me how deeply discounted the prices are?
Thanks for all this valuable information!!

This month they were running two discounts - 20% if you ordered $50 or more and 30% if you ordered $100 or more. We ended up getting 5 5x7s for the price of 4.

When do you typically see the discounts? My pictures expire Monday and I haven't received the discount email yet.

I received it in February more than a week before they expired.

We get a Photopass early and have CM's take character photos all the time. I take tons of pictures, but I consider Photopass an insurance policy in case my film gets lost or my pictures don't come out well. Last March, Photopass saved me because my picture of DD with Cinderella had her eyes closed but Photopass one was absoloutely perfect. It was worth the expense to see DH grab the framed picture and put it right by her bed.

It is very important as noted in another post that you write down your photopass number. SOmetimes when you're in the Character tent in Toontown, things can get busy and a CM might accidentally switch photopasses. As long as you have your number, you will get your pictures.

I also encourage others to have more than one family photo done during your stay. We had one taken at MK, and while on the little screen on the digital camera the picture looked good, when I saw it online, DH's eyes were closed (as always) and DD2 was pulling my shirt so badly I looked deformed in the chest region if you know what I mean. On our next trip, we'll have a couple family pictures taken in MK to make sure one finally comes out nicely.
