for booking in the Disney Collection? I want to buy at SSR but the materials say I can't book and travel in the Disney Collection within 60 days of the end of my use year. So if I become a member and have a Dec 2006 use year I can't use the points for the Disney Collection in October or November? Am I reading that right? What is the reasoning behind it?

I think you can travel within the last 60 days of your use year but you must book the trip before the 60 days. So if you book in March for a trip in November you are OK but you can't book in October or November to travel in one of those months.

As stated, you can travel anytime, right up to the last day of your use year. But you must book more than 60 days out from the end of your use year.

What you can't do is book AND travel within the last 60 days. Here's the reason:

The points you use for this non-DVC resort must actually be used at a DVC-resort. Disney takes the points and basically 'makes a reservation' at a DVC resort with them. They then rent that 'reservation' out for cash. They then use the cash they receive for renting out the DVC-resort that used your points, to pay for the non-DVC resort that you're getting.

If they get your points with only 60 days or less in their use year, it may be too late to be able to rent out a DVC-villa in order to get the cash to pay for your non-DVC room.

This is especially difficult because ALL not-reserved DVC-villas are released to CRO at 60 days for cash reservations.

Hope that helps
