I've just read the posts on placing your luggage outside the room the night before disembarking and I need a lesson. I hadn't realized this was something that happened. I don't know how I feel about leaving my personal possessions outside my door for anyone to walk off with. Also, I would assume that would necessitate a carry-on? Thanks for your help.

When you board the ship, you'll need a day bag for swimming, a quick change, etc. Simply use your day bag as your disembarkation bag. If you sit your bags outside of your door, your steward will very soon take them below. They will be tagged, (ours was orange Goofy). When you disembark, you will go to your area, and you bags will be waiting for you. It's a very simple process. If you don't leave the ship until closer to 8:00, there won't be any lines. We slowly meandered out dreaming about our next adventure on the "Magic"al seas.

I hope this helps.

I guess it's not that big of a deal. However, if you're going to eat breakfast, I'm not sure how much the Disney staff would appreciate all of that luggage in the dining room. It's also very enjoyable to be able to take in all of your last moments on the ship without worrying about stacked luggage sliding off
as you roll it. :)

We waited in line moving very slowly for 45 minutes to get off the ship, I would have hated to have all my luggage wit hme in that line!
Do you take all your luggage on airplanes with you? I put a lock on it and put it outside the door and usually its gone within minutes.

don't worry about leaving your possessions outside. DCL staff are professionals and your things will only be taken from the hallway to the terminal....not a very long trip. i guess they do this for time and convenience to the passengers. it was hard enough (for me & DH) to handle our two small kids without having to worry about heavy luggages. we had our carryon with us all the time. that was tolerable.

It's a big deal to me! Why haul those big heavy luggage if they can carry it out for me? When I get off the ship..it's there waiting for me. Heck if they want to carry it all the way to the DCL bus for me, I would let them!

::yes:: It would get pretty congested in the dining area if everyone brought their bags with them!

BTW...when they meant 11pm pick-up..they meant it! They were right there at my door...and I wasn't ready yet. He said he would give me about 20 minutes. Sure enough, he was there waiting for me! He was nice and friendly.

I guess this one is getting chaulked up to the "things you should know" category. I honestly hadn't known about this. It's not really a big deal, but more of a planning thing - don't want to pack something by mistake that I'll need in the morning! Thanks for the info...us newbies, honestly :confused3

At the disembarkation talk they will tell you storys of people having to leave the ship in their pajamas (or worse yet...a sheet!!) because they didn't leave clothes out for the morning. Just rememeber to set your clothes out for the morning and you will be fine!

AFter dinner the last night we change into whatever we will wear off the ship the next day to whatever we plan on doing the rest of the evening, then leave out our PJ's and pack up everything else we will not need. So, next morning all we have in our carryons is our toiletries, and pj's, camera and plane tickets, etc.

After 13 DCL cruises we have never, ever had anthing missing from our luggage.

It does really just come down to proper planning.

I know you have to leave the ship by 9.a.m. but wonder what time you must be out of the cabin.

LOL...that will be me in my pj's! My DH, DS & DD will have clothes, but I'll forget to leave my own out. I can see it now :rotfl:

Planning, planning, planning!!! Thanks so much!

I'm not so worried about losing anything. I'm just not really planning on going to the 6:45 seating for breakfast. So, we were thinking about just going up to the buffet and grabbing something to bring down to the cabin to eat. Seemed easier to just roll our luggage off the ship with us and out to our car. (We're going over to WDW after we disembark. I'm sure we'll eat plenty that day. ::MinnieMo ) I promise not to haul my luggage into the dining room! :teeth:

Julie...you just gave me a great idea! I hardly think my kids will be up for and at breakfast for 6:45 so I think the idea of grabbing something at the buffet & bringing it back to the cabin is a great idea. Does anyone know if the buffet items are "to go" and can be brought back. This would kill two birds with one stone...or so the saying goes  That way I won't have to worry about having to exit the boat in my pj's - lol! And when I say worry, I really mean that I would worry about it...anxiety disorder!!

Yes, you can pick up breakfast "to go" at the buffet. The teenagers with me slept later than I did, so every day I had a leisurely breakfast sitting outside at the buffet, and then I fixed a tray of bagels, cereal, etc., to take back down to them. Just remember that on the last day, you have to be out of your room by 8 a.m.

I started a thread on this a few days ago (and people thought that it was strange to want to do this). It's not the CM's I'm concerned about with my luggage, it's other cruisers :guilty: It was very easy for me to do the buffet from 7:15-7:45, then return to my cabin, use the restroom, and pick up my rollling luggage and just walk off the ship by 8am. No lines, I didn't bother anyone in the dining room with my luggage and didn't need to search for it later. I'm not a person that needs someone to take my things for me everywhere just because I'm on vacation. Rolling one suitcase off a ship and loading it onto a bus or car is a piece of cake for me. But then again, I have my DH, who rolls one and DD who rolls hers. No brainer.

I always brought our breakfast back from topsiders. My kids loved it. It was like breakfast in bed.

I dont know if there is a buffet the last day. I really dont think there is one. I was worried about my suitcases being in the hall too. They come very quickly to get them.. Your luggage is also left in the hallway once you get on the ship. It takes a while, but that is where you will recover it from. I t is so easy leaving though. You go to your color area and there it is. Grab a porter (They are the quickest) They will load all your stuff onto his/her carrier and walk you out. QUICK QUICK QUICK. I couldnt believe it.

There is a buffet on the last day (at least on the Wonder there was one in BBB)
