Hi there! I leave tomorrow!!!:Pinkbounc
I have one last question....My hubby has a 7 day park hopper plus pass. He will only get to be there 3 days because he has to fly back for buisness. I have heard the remaining days are not transferable, but have also heard of people selling them, or giving them away.
What is the correct anwser to this?
My main reason for asking is we are planning to go to Blizzard beach AFTER he leaves Disney. I wanted to use one of his plus options, so i could save a little money. BUT, didn't want to be swarmed by the mouse police. LOL
Many thanks for all the posts and help I have received on the boards. I am very excited to go and couldn't have done it without ya'll!!! :D

Technically, Hoppers are nontransferable. However, we have used extra days among our family with no problems. As long as there is no name on the pass (like for an AP) and no finger scan, you should not have any type of problem. Selling unused days is illegal, I believe. Have a wonderful time!

I think as said above selling is illegal using someone elses is against the civil agreement BUT ...at the end of the day if you try to use his pass and someone stops you you can just say that you picked up the wrong pass...apologise profusely and buy a day entry......its not crime of the century!!

I really don't see how they can say anything on the park hoppers. We have no idea which ticket belong to who after putting them in the fast pass machines throughout the day. We've had the same character on two of our tickets at a time before, so how would you know who they belonged to.

Q. Are tickets transferable? Can I give them to someone else to use the remaining days?
A. Please note that all multi-day Walt Disney World Theme Park Tickets are nontransferable and must be used by the same person on any and all days. The person that uses the ticket for the very first time must use the ticket for its entirety. Any tickets that are transferred are in violation of this restriction are invalid for admission.

My family members routinely use the same hopper for different members until it is all used up. We have never had a problem. There is no cash exchanged and personally I don't think Disney would ever know. (I realize this may be against their rules, but in this case I really don't care. I have 4 days and 4 plus remaining on a ticket I bought that my mom used and if I want to use the remaining days why is it any of thier business?? I am not selling the thing!)

Unless it's an AP, they have no way of knowing it was your DH's pass and now you are using it.

I hold my whole family's passes and we mix and match them all the time by accident and nothing has ever happened. There is NO way for Disney to tell. The pass just says Adult or child on the back.

I agree with the previous posts. It is technically against the rules to share or sell a pass. However, there is also no possible way for Disney to know since your name is not on the pass and they can't identify the original owner by looking at the pass.

As for why Disney cares, that's easy. Let's say you are going to WDW for 3 days and your friend is going a month later for 4 days. It would be cheaper per day for you to purchase a 7-day pass, use 3 days, and sell the remaining 4 days to your friend. It would also be cheaper for him per day (assuming you charge him 4/7 of the price. Thus Disney loses money on both you and your friend. If you bought a 3-day and friend bought a 4-day, total spent would be higher.

I know we all set our own little ethical boundries for ourselves. Personally I view this issue as being a case of "spirit of the law" vs. "letter of the law."

Would I buy tickets with extra days specifically so they could be sold on eBay? Nope.

Would I buy used tickets on eBay? Nope.

Would I use a PLUS option from my spouse's ticket if he/she couldn't stay for the duration of the trip? Absolutely.

I think people who trade in used park passes on eBay are taking ridiculous chances which may end up costing hundreds of $$$ when they are standing at the gates with an invalid pass in hand. But it's unrealistic to expect a single family to track the movements of a specific pass through their unit.

I think tjkraz is right on. And at least part of the prohibition against selling partially-used park tickets is to avoid the situation where someone purchases invalid admission media and is denied entry. I've seen it happen once, and it wasn't pretty.

Do we give others unused passes? Absolutely. Family and friends. Would I buy a pass from a stranger? No way. I believe that is why Disney discourages people from selling them. Not that any of us would do a terrible thing like sell a worthless pass to another Disney fan, but this happens. So this is the way Disney helps protect the innocent fan from being ripped off. We have given away our leftover tickets when our grown kids have gone to Disney parks and Universal.

It is so sad to read threads of people buying worthless tickets. I remember one on these boards once from a traveler from overseas buying their entire families tickets from someone only to get to the parks to find them worthless and then having to buy NEW tickets--a BIG cost!

Though the tickets are labeled non-transferable, that is designed to prevent selling and giving them to a relative or friend is not prohibited.

I bought my older DD a 7 day hopper with 4 plusses. We didn't use any of the plusses so I am taking it on our next trip. We have APs but will need to buy tickets to Typhoon Lagoon so I am using one of her plusses to do just that!

Just curious what you are basing that statement on since it contradicts Disney's stated policy.

"Tickets are nontransferable and must be used by the same person on any and all days. The person that uses the ticket for the very first time must use the ticket for its entirety. Any tickets that are transferred are in violation of this restriction and are invalid for admission."

As I think we all agree, it is an impossible policy to enforce, but the terms of the policy are quite clear.

While ITA with your opinion that the policy is quite clear, one would assume if Disney was truly worried about this they would do something to identify who used it first and then stick to the printed policy by requiring some sort of ID. Until such time that they do, the "Pass Police Person" can quote ithe policy till that person turns purple and it will not change the fact that there is nothing to identify the person who first used it and it is nothing more than a "paper rule".

Oh please.... the fact is that it is against policy. People can lie all they want and say it isn't but it does not change the truth. Answering the question "are passes transferrable" is not policing anyone it is telling the cold hard truth. Sorry you don't like WDW policy, but why oh why do you always try to make it my fault that you don't it.

It is not your fault it is Disney Policy and I have never said it was not the "cold hard truth" (such drama!!!) I have also NEVER said it was not against policy. I have said the policy is IMPOSSIBLE to enforce at this time. No name, no way to check who used what when. I am also not lying, please be careful who you call a liar.
I have stated the "cold hard truth" when I have said they cannot check, it is impossible.

just where did I say you lied?
It is very apparent you have either a problem with the policy or with me posting the policy... otherwise you wouldn't call me names every time this come up. Someone asked what the policy is, and I answered them by giving them the text and the link for the offical policy. That is not policing anyone, that is answering a question. The fact is I haven't even expressed my opinion of the policy or of those who break it. All I did was answer the question that to OP asked.

So lets look at it from another angle.... lets say someone ask if you can drive 100MPH on the roads through WDW. Someone responds "sure I've done it before, there's no way for them to know you've done it unless they catch you". Would you be calling someone the traffic police if they then posted the speed limit?

If your answer yes, then I guess that is a part of your personality that I must start ignorring. If your answer is no, I think you need to examine why you have such a problem with me posting WDW policies.
