Can someone be banned for being in the wrong place at the wrong time?

Hello,
I was wondering if VMK can ban you for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. What I mean is a couple of times during my credits run I got one of the messages/warnings from VMK about how you can be banned for giving out personal information. I didn't say anything, just passing through and didn't even see who said what. I'm worried about this and usually use the advance mode when doing credits or quickly leave a room when someone says something that can get someone banned. I'm sure if I got a message that I was banned I could write to VMK, but just wondering if this could happen to an innocent player

I dont think you can get banned if you are passing through a room and you get that message.
However if you are hanging in a guest room where something inappropriate is taking place You probably could because it was your choice to stay there.

I have heard stories of people being banned while AFK. This being said I have not been banned so I do not know the exact criteria they use

Yes, I believe this could happen by accident on vmk's behalf especially in a rowdy room...They may just place a ban on everybody in the room instead of figuring out what was going on and who to ban. Is it right? Nope, but you can always use contact us and hope they review it and remove the ban. In the past, I have also received those messages when in a a busy room (pirates lobby, main street, etc). There are a few reasons why this may occur:

(1) There maybe a few other people saying things they should not, and vmk staff in the background may have received a report by other players and instead of sending invidual messages they just send a blanket message to the entire room. Typically, This is only a warning though...

(2) There maybe a few other people saying things they should not, and one of the words used instead of being banned from being said may have triggered this blanket message to the entire room. I would imagine they would just ban the word from being said, but who knows what is happening on the back end.

(3) There maybe a few other people saying things they should not, and similar to the last comment a word may trigger an alert to the technical staff. When they receive this alert they may take action like banning, or sending warning messages to the entire room.

I wouldn't worry about the warning message, unless you physically said something to cause this message to occur. I recommend always reporting people who are saying things or doing things they should not in vmk so that as a vmk community we can have a clean and fun game, and also I would always use the ignore button. Last, I would always leave a room where disputes or inappropriate discussions are occurring...

Seems there are just too many bad apples these days within vmk, wish I could go back to where only 500-1000 people where logged into the game every night

I had that happen also, once on the hannah montana quest, clicked into the music lobby, had no choice to use a empty room as it was very busy, entered music lobby,and was not even finished loading and up came a message, just entering, I have no idea who was there or what was said, I know vmk is trying to keep vmk safe, but well it does bother me to receive these messages , just for clicking into a room. Same thing on sunday during the quest. So I have had it happen to me, and just for clicking in the wrong room, but during quest times, we don't have the luxury of finding a empty room.
