CAN Resident ticket offer question

1) If you purchased tickets to Disneyland, how was your experience receiving the voucher via e-mail? Did it only take a few hours to arrive, or did it actually take a full day or more?

2) Here's the harder question... I am a Canadian citizen. Do I have to purchase these while I'm in Canada, or can I purchase these while I'm in Los Angeles, before we travel to Anaheim? We fly out on Jan 28th but will not be going to Anaheim until the 31st or Feb 1st. There's a possibility I may receive a phone call to come home early (instead of Feb 4th as planned), so I'd like to purchase the tickets closer to our actual visit..

At the moment I would have to print the vouchers out, which I'm sure wouldn't be a problem at the hotel. My smartphone (iPhone 4) is too old and the app refuses to install. I'm looking into a new one but might not have one within the next 2 weeks.

I posted this on the Canadian forum but thought I might get some answers here also.

I think I can partially answer this for you. I purchased mine in Sept for our Feb trip. The ticket voucher was included in my confirmation email and I then printed the it. It needs to be taken to a ticket booth and exchanged for the actual park hoppers. It took maybe 5 minutes from order to printing. That being said - it went to the email address I provided, so if you can access yours from your hotel, I do not think you would have to purchase while you are still in Canada. What is required is valid proof of Canadian citizenship to exchange the voucher at the ticket booth. A passport is not enough if you are a Canadian resident (then you also need to prove you currently live in Canada). Passport is sufficient if you are a Canadian citizen, if I read the fine print correctly.

Thanks for the reply! Did your voucher arrive quickly or did it actually take up the 24 hours Disney's website says? Ohh wait - I see you said about 5 minutes. Awesome!

We'll have our passports with us so proof of Canadian citizenship won't be a problem.

What I'm still worried about is Disney refusing to let me purchase the Canadian price as I would be using an U.S. IP address to access their website. Would anyone know about this? Have any Canadians purchased the CAN Resident Offer while in the States?

I understand your worry. However, a phone call to Disney should give some idea. My thinking is that you should be able to purchase - after all, they won't turn down a ticket sale - and it will work fine because you fit the criteria necessary to use the tickets. Others from the States have mentioned they also see the deal on their website, and only someone who is really not paying attention would try to buy them if they are ineligible for use. I know I read all the fine print when I am spending that much money at once!

After I posted my reply I thought of phoning Disney as well. I found a Disneyland Web Tech number. The CM I spoke to told me their system does identify the IP address being used and will only show the local offer. He was uncertain if that would change if I logged in with my Disney account.

So, I have a VPN and decided to try it out. After clearing out the history/cache, etc., I set my VPN to California and went to Disneyland. It only showed the SoCal Resident offer. :( However, when I logged into my Disney account, it updated the website and also gave me access to the CAN Residents offer! :) I hope it will continue do so when I cross the border.

Any Californians who can confirm whether they can see the CAN ticket pricing, with or without VPN usage? Any Canadians over there now? Pretty please!

I did the vouchers for our December trip and when we went to exchange them at a ticket booth the evening before they said just to take the vouchers to the turnstile to get the printed tickets which we did the next morning, BUT you have to have everyone's Canadian passport as they will ask for them before printing off the tickets and they asked for both mine and my DS'. When I bought the tickets online I got the vouchers in my email right away.
