Can people get a visitor's pass to come visit at a DVC resort?

Here's the deal...my DH and two DS are going to WDW next June. We are staying at AKV Kidani Village from June 20-29. My parents are coming in on a Wednesday but are staying at Bonnet Creek (BOOOOO!!!). Anyway, we originally planned on with my parents from June 29-July 1 so they could spend time with the kids and we could save some points. However, now that I see Bonnet Creek bus service is HORRIBLE, I plan on adding the last two nights onto our stay using DVC points. The problem is my parents were looking forward to spending the afternoons by the pool with the kids. Has anyone ever had visitors (like family) get a parking pass for the day at the resort so they could spend time with you? I think my parents will be devastated if they won't be able to come by and I want to know what to tell them before I actually make that phone call. HELP!!!!:worried::worried::worried:

It might be more cost-effective for you to rent a car for those last few days, rather than use more of your DVC points.

Getting a parking pass is not an issue. They just need to drive up and tell the guard at the gate where they want to go.

Access to the pool is a different issue. Only registered guests are allowed to use the pool. Since there are 4 of you, I assume you have either a studio or 1BR, so you would not have enough room on your reservation to add them. If you have a 2BR, then you'd be able to register them as being part of your party and access to the pool would not be a problem.

I do not know if they have "pool police" at AKV who would prevent their going into the pool. They do at BCV.

Is there any way your parents could switch resorts? Kidani is off limits for pool hopping, even to DVC members staying on points. It is strictly for guests of AKL. (As small as the area is, I'm glad it's off limits).

We own at the main lodge at AKV and we've had guests join us from offsite. If it was off limits then noone said anything and one of our guests even praised the resort to a staff member with full disclosure he wasn't staying there. We weren't hosting an entire family or party though, just two close friends who were staying elsewhere.

If you were swimming in the pool, then yes, it is off-limits, as stated on the sign right at the pool entrance. As AKV owners, I am surprised that you are now aware of this, but am happy to let you know.

however you get your jollies. I am only recounting an encounter with a DVC employee.

Sheesh. No reason to be rude....just stating the resort's rules, and I'm sure no one wants the OP to be ignorant of the posted policies.

On a Thanksgiving, several years ago, I had 8 people over for dinner in a 1-bdrm. DW made the turkey and dressing in the resort and everyone else brought the sides and dessert. Got resort parking for 3 extra cars without any questions.
