Can no longer see banked vs current UY points on reservations?

We used to be able to see what points were being used for a reservation (or choose). I can't seem to find that anymore, was it removed? How are points allocated now? By time of booking or the actual reservation date?

MS has a 55 minute wait right now. I have banked and current year points, but made a reservation for Dec first, then a reservation for Oct. I would like to cancel Dec and want to make sure my banked points will be used for the Oct rez, but I don't see a way to verify this online.

It allows you to chose the contract and the banked and borrowed points will always be used before the other ones.

It is based on which one you book first. So, since December was booked first, it pulls from what is there to reserve it. If you had banked points then it used those up.

When you booked October, it will pull from what was left.

When you book and finish, there is a points summary page...before you go back to the dashboard...that shows what was just done. I screenshot it because once you go back to your main screen, the only way to know is to call or go to the points activity statement.

ETA. What the system doesn’t do and never has is automatically reallocate when you cancel. You have to initiate that change which as suggested, is easy online via modify once the second trip is canceled and points are back.

I agree. I have asked and talked to several CMs including supervisors and they have said you can not move points around while in a reservation.

This includes 132 points banked from the previous 2020 UY (they were not banked all at once, but in bits and pieces as the pandemic extended and I modified/made more reservations) and 155 of 160 points of my 2021 UY.

If I go to modify each of my reservations and get to the screen where I choose my contract, on the contract it will tell you "Expiring at the end of the 2021 Use Year". This is the breakdown for my reservations:

Res 1:
Expiring at the end of the 2021 Use Year: 60
Res 2:
Expiring at the end of the 2021 Use Year: 11
Res 3:
Expiring at the end of the 2021 Use Year: 30
Res 4:
Expiring at the end of the 2021 Use Year: 12
Res 5:
Expiring at the end of the 2021 Use Year: 19

These numbers add up to 132 (the total number of points I banked from my previous UY), so is that the number of banked points currently being used for each reservation? Or the number of banked points to be used after I complete the modification?

Those must be your banked points in there. I just checked that same place for one of mine and it matches the banked points the guide told me on the phone.

I would really like to reallocate all of my banked points to my first and second reservation, but if the only way to do that is by canceling the later reservations, modifying the earlier ones, and rebooking the cancelled ones, I don't think that's a risk I'm willing to take.. all my reservations are value AKV rooms.

Happy first year of DVC to us. Hopefully things won't be this uncertain in future years

If you finish the modification, there will be a points summary link..before you go back to dashboard. That is the easiest way to know.

Have you checked if any of the reservations are still available? If they are, you should be able to safely cancel, modify, and then book again.

I'm in a similar pickle. None of my Dec reservations are available anymore, so I'll have to wait to modify until I'm for sure gonna cancel Dec.

I find the inability to "find" your banked points easily to be very annoying. You should not have to go through each reservation to find them!

I have several reservations coming up in the next few months. They were not booked in order. I have an April reservation using current use year points. I have a May reservation using all banked points. Ideally, I would like the April reservation to use the banked points. I have current use year points available (not used in any reservation) that would cover the banked points in my May reservation. I asked if they could reallocate the current available use year points to the May reservation to free up the banked points. Apparently, this reallocation can not be done. They system will always use restricted points before non restricted so that is why they can’t swap current for banked

One thing you can do is attempt to book your room for May one night at a time from beginning to end using those current UY points and the modify one day less. It will free up banked points if that is what is in May. Then you can modify and have those picked up in April.

I know it’s work but I have been successful doing it when I wanted to get banked points into a trip I booked after the other ones.

This stuff is just exhausting. Their system is a mess. I constantly have to cycle through reservations to see what points are on them and I still cannot see if it is banked or non banked points. And every time I call MS to have a reservation combined, CMs are always asking me, do you want to use such and such points.

If you finish the modification, there will be a points summary link..before you go back to dashboard. That is the easiest way to know.

I screenshot these so I know what is used each time.

This is one of the things that annoys me about the system. Even if I can't manipulate the points online, at least let me see which points are associated with each reservation. I keep pretty detailed records of my reservations, so I usually know which points are used for which. But it's a shame that the summary page can provide that information, but if you forget to screenshot or write it down at the time of booking, you can't see that information online ever again.

I think they give more complex changes to MS to ensure less issues with owners trying to do them by themselves, messing up, and then making a call to get it fixed. Sometimes, those mistakes could be ones that can't.

I am okay with the website having a set way to do things with MS being able to do something more. Having said that, they did add the ability to use transferred and OTU points online now so maybe they will slowly be able to add more choices for owners with multiple contracts.

I have 4 ressies for OCT and I wrote down on each conformation email what points were used so when I make any changes I know what I have to work with. I got tired calling MS to ask about what points were used.
