Can my 10 yo wear a costume??

Just read that children over 9 can't wear costumes in the parks?? We went in 2012 and my DD7 wore a jasmine outfit and loved all the attention she got. We are going in September and I was thinking about upgrading her to an adult ticket for dining purposes, she is a month off being 10. Would this mean she couldn't wear her costume that she can still squeeze into??

You'd be at the discretion of the CM's at the entrance gates.

But likely, you'd be just fine.

I'm not speaking from experience, and agree you probably won't have a problem, but you may want to bring something she can change into to be on the safe side.

The rule is that "adults" can't wear costumes into the parks
(except during Halloween parties and Star Wars Weekends.)

It is to avoid confusion of other guests wanting photos and autographs
from a person that does not work for Disney.

Wearing a crown won't be a problem at all.

They can wear their crowns. Even adults can wear crowns or character-inspired hairstyles. It's a full outfit on anyone who is not considered a child that COULD cause a problem (but likely won't).

I guess it would depend on who sees her. Last year, my DD12, who's small for her age, wore her Jasmine outfit after going to the BBB at DL (she was sad it was the last time for her, it was for her 12th bday). I doubt anyone could confuse her for a character, and the character Jasmine liked seeing her in her costume. She wore the costume in DL for several hours. No one said anything. While we were standing in the princesses line, some of the younger girls told her she looked pretty, they did not say look, there's Jasmine.

Otherwise, I saw many kids of all sizes, that looked like kids in costumes. Unless your DD looks like an adult/older teen, I would let her wear the costume. My DD did not wear the crown and wore comfy sandals as the shoes to go with the costume were not big enough, and it was hot, so comfort was key.

Unless your 7 year old looks like an adult, it's not going to be a problem.

from personal experience - it is not a problem.

Our DD wore her Princess Tiana dress (purchased from World of Disney in DTD) from the time she was 10 until she was 13 - nobody blinked an eye. I think the rule is in place for anyone who is trying to impersonate a character.

Also note at age 10 DD had more costumes (which fit) that she wore to the parks.

the upper age for BBB is 12 and that allows for costumes, so you should not have a problem. the problem that I can see happening is your daughter is the size and looks like teens or young adults playing the characters at the parks
