This is our first year with all three dd's being "adults". We want to get the dining plan, but I know there will be nights my 10 year old twins will not eat enough food to get the adult meal. Can they get a childrens meal or can they share a meal? I hate to feel like I have to do something I wouldn't do at home. Plus, now that gratuity is not included some nights could get pretty expensive with five of us eating adult meals.

I was wondering this same thing --- even though we're paying the adult price (right?) - can the 10 year olds order off of children's menu?

I don't know for sure, but I'd think they could order a kid meal...only
if they really aren't eating all that much ..wouldn't you just be better off paying out of pocket for meals this year. There does seem to be those couple of years where they are being charged an adult price, but maybe not eating adult sized meals, where the Dining Plan just may not be worth. Especially now with having to add the gratuity and pay for appetizers. If they are still eating kid meals ...if you pay out of pocket are you going to be spending more than $40.00 a day on each of them for their kid meals? I guess only you would know how much they really eat.

I had the same situation with DS this past August. I was able to order off the kids menu for him and pay OOP. This was at Wolfgang Puck which was awful anyway. :scared: At every other TS, the hostess gave him a children's menu and the server asked us if we wanted to order off that. Surprisingly, at most restaurants, he wanted to order of the Adult menu and enjoyed his dinners.

OR!!! Pay the adult price for DDP - then if DS/DD wants to order off of the Children's menu, pay OOP and save the TS for something else later!

I guess they would really frown on them sharing a meal and the only reason I ask that is that some days they are going to be tired of the same ol' children's menu. You know some kids can live off nuggets and pizza, but mine do like a little variety. I know we want to do some buffet's like Chef Mickey's and they'd both have to pay their own meal there. Any suggestions from people who have been through this would be great!

EvanMouse was 9 (just turning 10) when we went in July, so his age was 9 on the reservation---I didn't realize until we were there that he'd have to order off the kids' menu. He can eat like a little horse (he's currently 5'1" and only weighs 77 lbs!) and he didn't feel that the kids' meals were filling enough---he ended up eating about a third of my meal as well.

I'd say if your kids are generally hungry little bugs, go for the DDP, otherwise, pay OOP for all, or for some meals and save the extra TS credits for a few extra meals.
