I tried to ask about this on the resorts forum but was not explaining myself correctly. I figured those of you use to discount hunting might get what I'm saying...
I booked a room with FD when it was originally out in my name. On this ressie it was me, Dh, and two DS. Then we had more family that decided to go. (nephew, wife, their child) We are fitting the bill but when I went to book another room in their name the FD promo had ended so we made the reservation in my nephew's name on rack rate and hoped they would bring out free dining again that I could change him to.
Then when DH and I stayed on property for a different trip a few weeks ago we had a bounceback offer in our room. So I called and booked one of those in my husband's name with my nephew and his son on it. It worked out about 600 cheaper than the rack rate that we originally had for my nephew's room.
I am going to be calling to switch my DH name on our original ressie to my nephew's wife name so that in the end it is going to look like this...
room #1- me, nephew's wife, my two sons on Free Dining GP offer in my name
room#2- DH, nephew, great-nephew on bounceback offer in DH name
So everyone will have a room, we all have the same tickets, and we all have the same dining plan. We won't sleep in this configuration obviously but I know Disney doesn't care who sleeps where as long as every one has paid and there is no over occupancy issues.
Here comes the kicker....... I am starting to think about how it will work with room keys and the dining plan if we split up at all and go around to different things. Most likely we will be staying together and noone would be without someone who has the right room key but with the dining it seems like it could get confusing tracking who has gotten what snacks and things.
So I was wondering if at check in I would be able to switch who is actually in what rooms and keep the discounts we now have. ????
