I saw on the DVC website the akv is ahead of schedule and could be open as soon as 29 jan 2008. Has anyone else seen this or have any input or info?

That is only the rest of the Jambo house units. Kidani wont be open for another year yet.

Here is what it says on the DVC website. The following is quoted material.

Construction remains ahead of schedule at Disney's Animal Kingdom Villas, located at Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge at the Walt Disney World® Resort.

Members already are enjoying Disney Vacation Club the first phases of villa-style accommodations within Jambo House (the existing lodge building), and leaders have moved the targeted completion of these units from May 1, 2008, to Jan. 29, 2008.

Members and Guests staying in Jambo House also may catch a glimpse of vertical construction at Kidani Village, pictured above, a new string of villas, dining and recreation facilities scheduled to open in phases through mid-2009.

Ahead of schedule is always welcome news! Though as Diane said, this is only for Jambo house. Could you imagine if Kidani was opening already?!?! That would truly be record-breaking construction!

I have to also believe that Kidani is ahead of schedule. They will be working on a 24 hour a day schedule soon. It wouldn't surprise me if the first sections opened at Kidani this time next year.

It is exciting to see our new home moving along.

We've been advising members for weeks now that they will be hearing construction noise in the overnight hours.

JH has been slated for completion 1/29/08 since about July; that's when we got the communications regarding it.

I'll be excited to see KV moving along. SInce it's completion will make AKV the second largest DVC resort, I hope it will alleviate availability challenges. I just LOVE saying 'May I confirm that for you?'!

It's surprising it took so long for it to be posted on the members' website since it has been posted on the public DVC website's AKV FAQs page for quite some time. I can't remember when it first appeared but it was several months ago at least. I know we've been talking about it here for quite some time.

JH has been slated for completion 1/29/08 since about July; that's when we got the communications regarding it.

I'm kind of concerned about the construction noise and why MS never said anything to me about it when I made reservations for my upcoming trip in late April-May. Had I been made aware that I might be disturbed by construction noise, I may have reconsidered reserving there. Is there anything I can do? Maybe add a request-"quiet area"?

We just got back from a week's stay at AKV.
We never heard nor saw any construction going on except for when we purposely walked to one area to view the construction. You definitely cannot hear/see anything from the lobby area, which is where our room was.

So, has the date for Jambo house completion changed the amount of units available to book yet? We waitlisted for a 1br unit in June. Have they put those units in the inventory yet?
As to construction noise, I was told it might be a problem- we waitlisted for SV. Could that make a difference?
