I was waiting until 7 months out to book the rest of our October trip. I was planning on booking a Standard Studio at AKV--Jambo House. I own there, but I was planning on using my HHI points. I figured there would be no trouble booking this. My date to book is this Saturday. I have been going online to check availability and there's been no problem until today when it's showing no availability. Can this be true???

Sure it can, standard view rooms at Jambo House are very limited. October is as popular as ever due to food and wine. You have a much better chance of a standard view at Kidani where there are far more standard view room available.

I guess I didn't think about how many more standard studios there are at Kidani. That makes sense. I may look into buying a few extra points Saturday and splurging on a savanna view at Kidani. That view is just amazing!!!

It is also true that sometimes just before I need to book, the dates are unavailable, yet I have always been able to get what I want either on the day I could book, or with a waitlist that came through in a few days. This was especially worrisome before my December VGF stay. So, do not give up. You may get what you want after all!

In 14 years, we have only had a wait list come through once! I must admit, while I'm happy for those of you who've had success with wait lists, I'm jealous!!

You can still luck out, many people switch resorts at the exact 7 month window. So thru out that day do a simple check. Wish you luck!

Ok, so talked to my DH. We think this is a sign to book a savanna view at Kidani. We stayed in a savanna view 2 BR before and I was amazed at how beautiful the view is! To save points we have been booking value, and I'm fine with that. But next year, we will probably have 5 points leftover that we will lose, so I'm thinking of using those 5 points and purchasing 3 ($45) to book the savanna view. The two days we plan to be there we will hang out at the resort except for a quick trip to DTD and MNSSHP the other day, so lots of time to enjoy that beautiful view. Sometimes we have to embrace these surprises!!!

I've gotta admit there are probably a few like me-owners who don't reserve at 11 months, but wake up one day and go "Oh crap! I'd better reserve today-the 7 month window opens tomorrow" (or at least soon). Also, you're looking for a studio. I was just checking studios for early October, and they're few and far between. Not only are BWV and BCV gone, as I expected, but days are gone at AKV-Jambo and Kidani, even at OKW, one of the biggest. There are still rooms at SSR.
