I'm going in May, I'm still not sure if I want to get the ddp or not. Could I book it without, and then if I change my mind, add it to the plan. also is there a time frame when you wouldn't any longer be able to add it. thanks.
As long as you have a WDW package (meaning room plus at least a one day ticket) you can add DDP up to five days before your arrival. (I believe that is the correct number of days) In other words if you wait until four days before arrival, it will be too late to add the package. (Double check on the exact number of days--but I know I am very close.)
Make your dinner reservations as soon as you can because people are hording all the reservations and it's really difficult to get in anywhere. I started a few months before my trip and still had trouble! I have heard stories of people making multiple reservations for the same time each night so they are covered. This is very selfish and makes it harder for others to get in anywhere to eat. Good luck.

I respectfully disagree with this. People are not hording reservations....they are making reservation. While I admit that people used to double/triple book themselves, if WDW catches you doing this now, they will cancel all your reservations with out notice.
Well, it certainly made it difficult for MY family to eat anywhere we wanted. I do hope they can stop people from doing that. I always cancel one reservation if I make another at the same time. It's just polite. Good luck.
You could still make reservations ahead of time. You don't have to have the DDP to make reservations. That is my plan. I am figuring out what TS restaurants we are planning on eating at (with or without the DDP) and making the reservations. If I decide to add the DDP at a later time, then I can but I will already have my reservations.
When you say you have room and tickets do you mean you have a PACKAGE that currently include room and tickets or that you booked a room and that you purchased tickets?
I ask because you have to book the package with room and tickets attached to the room in order to add the dining plan you cannot book the hotel room only and purchase tickets and then add the plan.
