...reserve at the 11 month window.

For example, let's say I have 300 points at SSR and 300 at BWV.

- Can I use all 600 to book a stay at BWV when the 11 month window opens?

- Or do I have to book a 300 pointer at BWV spot and wait for the 7 month window to extend the reservation at BWV if available?

How do you all manage reservations with two or more contracts?

Thanks.

You can only use the points from THAT resort to reserve at 11 months out. To get more than your allotted 300 at BWV you'd have to bank or borrow or do a transfer in.

Wow. Thanks for the speedy response Dean.
These boards - and the members - are fantastic.

Please allow me a follow up question...is it possible to transfer from one contract you own to another you own? If so, this would be great for us as we were wondering how this would/could work.

Thanks.

The answer is it depends. If you have contracts linked together you can't transfer and there is no need to. If you have totally unrelated contracts, you can transfer. You would be subject to the transfer rules in most cases but in the past DVC has been more flexible with multiple contracts of a single owner. While DVC has had trouble tracking the home resort of transferred points, this is not likely a good way to bypass the home resort priority either. But there are ways to work within the system to get what you want legally in most cases.

We have moved points from or to our small master contract (50 points) to or from our larger master contract (450). But it was at the 7 month time and we were instructed that we had used our once a year transfer for both accounts at that point.

Another question: If you book your home resort at the 11 month window, can you add days to that reservation at the 7 month window with points from another contract and would that be considered a seperate reservation? So if I book BWV (w/those points) for Sunday to Friday, at the 7 month window, can I use my SSR points to add days to this reservation? Any downside to this (other than availability). I have some banked points that have to be used on my SSR contract and was thinking of adding to another reservation, but that one was booked with my BWV points. Sorry to hijack the OPs tread, but thought this question came within the same area.

Yes you can do that. As you said, it is subject to availability but you could wait list any days you are not able to book at 7 months out.

You could make it one reservation or multiple if you wanted. If it's multiple, you might have to move units. There are ways to play this game as you near the 7 month window. When the 7 month window opens for day 1 you could use the non home resort points and reserve a night then cancel the first day of your existing reservation and use the points to reserve the next night on the back end during the home resort window and just ahead of the 7 month window. You can also skip over weekends and reserve those at 7 months out as they are more likely to be available than weekdays.

Thanks for the tip....sort of like leap frog. So even though the days are reserved with different points at the end I can link the whole reservation together in hopes that I don't have to move? Is that correct?
