Can I use FastPass on tickets not bought together?

My very first post on this forum. So glad to have a place like this for questions! I've searched for this answer, but can't find it.

Ok: We will be staying offsite on January 2-9, 2016. I will be buying theme park tickets separately. To try to split up the enormous cost of this whole trip, I am planning on buying 4-day, Park Hopper tickets from Undercover Tourist one-by-one until I get enough for our party of 4. (When I save $360, I'll buy one. Then, when I save up enough, then I'll buy the next a couple months later. So on and so on....).

But, my question is: since I will be having non-sequential tickets, can I schedule the FastPass for our party all together? I still don't understand how that works. Honestly, I don't understand how a lot of this works yet! :crazy2: So, please forgive my ignorance lol.

:welcome: Welcome to the Dis!

Sure you can. Save those tickets once you get them. DONT LOSE THEM!!!!!!!!!! Once you have them all, set up your MDE account and enter the ticket numbers (they are printed on the back of each ticket). Then you'll be ready to make your FP reservations 30 days before your first park day.

Actually, instead of worrying about misplacing them, I'd immediately put them into your MDE....as you put each ticket in you will be asked to assign it to someone. Start with the Main Person on the account, and then each new ticket assign it to one of your "friends". Until you actually use one of the tickets, you can reassign it to someone else (in case someone decides not to go with you, or if someone is going to have less days or whatever). Once used, they are permanently assigned to the person.

Since you are staying offsite, you will not receive free Magic Bands, so you will need your physical ticket or you will need to purchase a Magic Band at the park or from Disneystore.com (I highly recommend NOT buying them from ebay or other unauthorized places as you just don't know that you will get useable bands). You do NOT have to buy a MB if you don't want to, you'll just have to carry your physical ticket with you for gate entry and for FP+ use. If you misplace a physical card, then simply buying a Magic Band and assigning it to the missing physical card means you no longer need the card. It's an either/or...a card or a MB...and if you put the tickets in MDE upon receipt, you are secure in knowing the tickets aren't lost even if the physical card is misplaced.

You can only make FP+ for those people who have a ticket assigned to them (and sequential numbered tickets isn't necessary...even ordering them together doesn't usually get you sequential)....so since you're staying on site you are going to want to have a ticket assigned to everyone in your party by 30 days out (which is the first opportunity to book FP+ for those staying offsite....those staying onsite can book at 60 days).

I know it can all sound daunting and confusing...but you have months and months to read these boards...they are a wealth of information as others ask questions and get answers....when I first came here I was finding answers to questions I didn't even know I had!

Not to hijack the thread but a related question... would this apply if I'm buying 2 regular tickets and meeting a friend there who is buying a FL resident ticket? Can we coordinate FPs?

Yes.

All that matters is having valid park tickets, good for use on the days for which the FPs
are being scheduled.

sharona, that is actually an excellent question! We have friends that are coming and knowing that I can add them with us on the fast bands account is great to know!

ConnieB, great tip about the magic bands. I will buy them from disneystore.com and do it that way. thanks!

They can have their own MDE even....just "friend" them to your account (or they friend you to theirs) and use the account with everyone to book the FP at the same time.

Things to remember, Annual Passes (Florida or nonresident) can only have 7 days of FP+ at a time (unless staying onsite, see below). If the "regular" tickets are more than 7 days, then you can have up to the number of days on your tickets, but the AP stops at 7. Once they use FP#1, they can book another day, but they can't have more than 7 FP at time (again, see exception re staying onsite).

An exception is if they are listed on a resort resevation, then APs get FP+ to match the number of nights on the reservation, and get them at 60 days. So, if the "regular tickets" are staying on site, but the AP is not.....the regulars can book at 60 days out, but the AP can't. Logic would say, well then just list them on the reservation even if they're staying at their near-the-parks home....but beware that a 3rd adult (18 or over) will cost you extra for a room. If the two "regular" tickets are an adult and child under 18, I'd list the AP on the reservation since it will make only 2 adults in the room (and whether they actually stay there is up to ya'll). Then they get the advantage of 60 day booking with you.

You're likely to end up paying more by delaying the purchase of the ticket, just so you know. Price is sure to increase. If there's any way you can purchase now to lock in savings, I'd do that.

Wow that's complicated! We are going for just one day and staying at Universal so I think I understand now, thanks

This is true as the rumor is going around that the price increase is "just around the corner" (source: Undercover Tourist an authorized Disney reseller, who typically doesn't raise their prices until Disney does). But....if you have to save to buy each ticket, then there isn't much OP can do.
