Can I use Disney gift cards at restaurants?

I know I can charge meals to my room using a magic band and then pay with gift cards. I am considering changing my resort to Shades of Green, and I don’t think I can charge meals back to that resort. I have $700 in Disney gift cards and plan to use them for food. I want to use them directly in the restaurants if I am able to do so. Anyone?

Cool!

Here are the restaurants we are going to...any of them NOT owned by Disney (and therefore not open to using gift cards): skipper canteen, be our guest, yak and yeti, Tusker house, restaurant marikesh, 50s Prime time, Ohanas, Sanaa’s.

Marrakesh and Yak & Yeti are not owned by Disney. But both accept Disney gift cards.

The restaurants at the Swan/Dolphin are among the most prominent ones at WDW that don't accept Disney gift cards.

Yak & Yeti is owned by a 3rd party but they may take the GC . We have used them at DS restaurants that are not Disney owned.
Worst case charge it back to your room. Diffently ask the server if they take them.

I have used gift cards and Yak &Yeti. Only place we couldn't were the Swan/Dolphin restaurants so we paid with a credit card for those.

I can’t quite remember what happened when we were at Yak & Yeti. Either they couldn’t take gift cards or they couldn’t charge back to the room; one or the other. There might have been a problem between the AP, DVC, and TiW discounts, too.

And FYI, you can go to disneygiftcard.com to combine the gift cards, so you aren’t handing a few to the waiter.
(I generally add a few each night so I can’t loose the full amount of something happened)

Awesome! We are celebrating my husband's retirement in January and I was able to score a reservation

I can’t charge back to our room, because we are staying at Shades of Green. We will have our credit card to cover snacks and meals that can not take GC.

I expect, on a 12 day trip with three adults, to spend >$1000 on dining and snacks (we are saving up around $1500 for food) I expect that we will have around $700 in gift cards by the time we go. I just wanted to be certain that we could use them as our personal “dining plan” while we are there.

I hear that some of the snack carts can not take cards, anyone know about that?

It would be a very small number of snack carts in the parks that don’t take gift cards. I’ve used mine at popcorn, pretzel and Mickey bar stands
Most snack places take the dining plan snack credits, so they are connected to Disney’s system.
Some souvenir only carts only take cash.

Non-Disney owned food carts in Boardwalk and Disney Springs May not take gift cards.
