Can I upgrade MYW to AP?

I ordered 4 day park hoppers from UndercoverTourist for our trip in May. Meanwhile I decided that I should get an annual pass instead of a 4 day (planning another trip already). Can I upgrade the 4 day I purchased from UCT or do I need to send it back for a refund, then buy a separate AP? Also, can I get an AP at any Disney Store?

Thanks!
Amanda

I think this can be done. I'm sure someone here can tell the specifics. I'm actually thinking of doing the same thing this summer, so I'd like to know as well.

We were able to upgrade our park hoppers at the park. You just have to do it before you use the last day, and then they credit you the entire price of the park hopper toward your annual pass. We did this at the MK ticket window. I'm not sure if you can do it at the Disney Store.

It doesn't make a difference if I bought it through UCT vs. directly from Disney?

Also, I want to buy the DDE card along with an AP. Does this complicate things?

I don't think so. We bought our hoppers through Shades of Green, which is not owned by Disney.

I think you can buy the DDE card once you get the AP...I don't know if you can get this at the ticket window or if you have to call a separate number. I do know that you won't receive your official card at that time, but they can give you a paper receipt that you can show at the restaurants until your card arrives. They say that takes six weeks, but DSis got hers sooner than that.

You cannot do a trade-in at the Disney Store, even assuming that your Disney Store has APs, which not all do.

You can only do a trade-in at ticket windows or Guest Relations windows at the 4 theme parks or Downdown Disney.

Also be advised that when you trade-in a pass bought from a ticket broker like UCT, TicketMania, or Maple Leaf, the credit you get for the pass will not be what you paid for it, you will only get what the broker paid Disney for it.

Because of this, you will lose money by trading in a pass from UCT. If UCT allows you to return the pass for a refund, you should do it, however, I doubt that they will. If they do, please post about it here so we all know!

If you do wind up doing the trade-in when you get to WDW, the procedure is easy and doesn't take long.

UCT will accept refunds minus a 5% fee to cover credit card charges. I guess that seems fair.

WillCAD- any idea what the credit will be from Disney (what UCT paid them)?

You will not get very good value for a trade in from any broker. It's minimal. I tried to do this at Guest Services once after having bought a park hopper through Ticketmania. It was not worth the trade in.

OK, I must be stupid here! We're getting MYW tix for our visit in July. Are you saying above that we can use 5 of the 7 days visiting the various parks and then on the 6th day go to a ticket office at the park and they will credit us the full price we originally paid for our 7 day passes toward our buying an AP?

A few years ago, we had some days leftover on old 4 day park hoppers and they only applied the cost of the 2 days we had left. I like the NEW policy if this is true! Oh please oh please be true!! :sunny:

really interested in this answer....... bump for the night! Anyone know?

Yes, but the anniversary (renewal date) of your pass will probably be the date that you first used your tickets. Just go to guest relations, they can take care of it for you.

This is so great! thank you for the info.! :sunny:

Because we had to make two 10 day ressies for our upcoming trip we ended up having to buy 4 one day tickets. Am I correct in thinking that I can only turn in one ticket each toward our next AP"s?

Yes, that's correct. When you buy a new pass, you can only apply credit from one old pass toward it.

Shucks and darn, that means that we will have to buy at least two more AP's in our lifetime. I will try to cope with the idea.

(great big grin as the smilies are not working)
