yep, thats what i did. just be advised that if your package included a discount ticket you will only get credit for the value price and not the full price.
for example if your ticket was a discount 3 day park hopper that only costed 260 then you will get only 260 credit for it and not the 295 that a full price ticket would cost. you may not know if your ticket is a discounted ticket or not (you may only know the cost of your package for instance) but they know when they scan it when you go to upgrade.
Also its best to upgrade your ticket on your last day in the parks so that if there are any blockout days as part of the AP your getting they don't effect you.

I have no clue if my ticket is discounted. I booked a pkg deal thru Costco. The blackout dates will not affect my trip so I'll upgrade ASAP because the discounts on food, shopping will help, plus Photopass.
I would use the ticket first before upgrading, just on the off chance they are able to bridge to the non discounted price (if applicable). Definitely do it your first day after entry though, so you can take full advantage of discounts.
seIn general Disneyland does not "bridge" the price. In general you will have your cost applied to the price of the passs that you are upgrading to.
Once in awhile you will get lucky and they apply the full cost and they will also on occasion not back date the expiration to the first day you use the pass you are upgrading. Just don't count on either of these things.
No.. What I meant was the if you upgrade day 3 of your pass, on occasion they will date it the day you upgrade not the first day you used it.se
I'm fine with the no bridge but they better date my Ap from first date I used ticket not date I reserved pkg.
She just needs to wait until the last day to upgrade and request a block out pass. They will give her a printed out pass that she will need to present with her AP each time she enters a park that day.My daughter's friend is going to by an AP, but the AP she is buying is blocked for this Saturday. She will have a three day park hopper, and Saturday will be the last day they are going into the parks. Can she upgrade during the day and still have access to the parks or will she be blocked as soon as she upgrades (if she leaves)?
Thanks. I will let her know. She just needs to wait until the last day to upgrade and request a block out pass. They will give her a printed out pass that she will need to present with her AP each time she enters a park that day.
We just did that in March. We went mid-day when there were no lines at the ticket windows and it was a quick process. We had purchased our tickets through an employer discount site, but they did not care about that. Just applied what would be the cost of a full price ticket to our annual pass fee.
Forgive my ignorance but what does it mean "bridging"? I'm thinking f getting an AP upgrade but have never done it. Is this AP also good at WDW??
Bridging would be crediting the full current gate value of the ticket you are upgrading, regardless off what you paid for it.
If your ticket comes with a MM, use that before upgrading so that you don't lose it.
We are staying on site at PPH so do I need to use MM before upgrade?
