I have these two goldfish that my daughter won at a carnival. They are over 2 years old now. I'm really not much of a fish person and never wanted them, but of course, their care fell to me. The tank sits right next to my computer and I notice, these days, that when I sit here and type on my computer, they swim over to the side of the tank and stare at me. One of the fish stares head on and the other fish always puts himself at an odd angle to look at me. It's actually kind of cute. I never thought fish could have such cute personalities. I thought they were dull.

The "angled" one is staring at me right now. It's just so darn funny...

i love goldfish! i don't have any right now, though. my fish tank is full of hermit crabs.

Awww....now aren't you glad you have them-they are great listeners too ;)

My goldfish used to swim up to the edge of the tank to greet me. They would also do the same thing when the cats would come in and paw at the glass trying to get to them! :lmao:

As a kid I won a goldfish at a fair. I asked my mom if we could get bowl and all the stuff to go along with it, and she said "No, the thing will be dead in 3 days." Well 2 years later, we finally got an actual fish bowl!! He lived for 6 years total, until we took the advice of the fish store person, and it killed him. See, we always used tap water, but would let it "breath" for a week or so in a bottle before we put him in it. The fish store guy said there was no need to do that, and within less than a week he was dead.

We love our goldfish "Trooper"! We got him at the fair last Oct. He splashes the water when I walk by when its feeding time! He likes to stare at us too!

Too cute! My new classroom neighbor has a betta fish in her room. It's looking a bit sick, though, so if you can spare a prayer for "Blueberry" the betta fish our 7th graders would appreciate it! (he was their classroom fish in 5th grade!)

they can actually live pretty long, which I never knew. We had a Beta for about 6 years- Nemo. He started swimming sideways, and it went downhill from there.

My friend had a goldfish ( from a fair) for 16 years!!! And it was the same fish ( I assumed she switched it out when the old one died to spare the kids!)
She said they worried more about the darn fish than any of their other pets when they went on vacation.

I used to have six Zebra Danio fish (like goldfish only white with black stripes). They were so neat, but started dying one by one until only one was left. That fish lived for YEARS and did the weirdest things.

Then one day, my DH filled the tank after a cleaning with HOT water, on accident, but still... and that poor fish died. I was SO SAD!

RIP Jack Sparrow, miss ya still! :sad1:

Fish are pretty neat, we have 2 tanks, 1 75 gallon freshwater and 1 75 gallon salt water. The fish love to follow us, they come over and watch us, they splash around to get attention. It's really fun to watch them.
