I am still in the "investigation" phase and have put a call into the DVC agent helping me, but he is out until Tuesday........and I want to know now:)

I do not want to but into BLT, I would prefer AKV-can these still be purchased? If so, does anyone know how much they are per point? Also, we are thinking of financing through Disney..........am I correct that they want 10% down? What is the interest rate through Disney at this time? Thanks so much!!

Yes, you can still buy AKV.

Check this link for the current rates. I checked with my guide just a few days ago and he confirmed these are accurate: http://www.dvcnews.com/index.php/dvc-program/financial/pricing-a-promotions

Sorry, don't have info for the financing but I am sure someone else does... GOOD LUCK!

Yes, you can still buy AKL from Disney.

From the DVCnews website the AKL price is as follows...

Animal Kingdom Villas***

$120 base price less $6 promotional discount; 100 points
$120 base price less $18 promotional discount; 160+ points
Special Offer: With a referral from a current DVC member, save an additional $2 per point for purchases of 160 or more points (net price of $100 per point.) PLUS a $500 prepaid Visa card.

I think that the financing thru Disney was 10.75% with automatic payment, but it went up a few months ago. I think it is now 11.25% or 11.75%, and yes 10% down (or more).

Many on this board will tell you to not finance a luxury purchase like DVC. Ultimately, you are the one paying the bill so you have to decide if its worth it or not.

Also as far as I know it isn't 10% of the discounted price (incentive price), it is 10% of the regular price.

We financed our direct purchase in 2009 and haven't looked back. We received the preferred rate of 10.75. You can finance for up to ten years with no penalty for paying it off early. Generally you will receive the current UY points which they will bank for you, actually even pass the banking deadline. Many times the Guide will say they are 'giving' you the points...but you do pay for them. We purchased in June 2009 and received 2008 points which we combined with our dec 2009 points for 420 points out of the gate. We received the UY we wanted, where we wanted instantly. Just my plug for direct over resale. But you can save lots of money with resale. You will need to secure your own financing then.

When we bought in 2008, they let us use our per point discount towards our down payment, so we only had to give them a small amt. of cash. Ex: if the current price is $120 and you buy 160 pts, that's $19,200. An $18 per point discount on 160 pts is $2,880. Your 10% down $1,920. I think what they did was charge us the $120 pp and give us a credit of $2,880 towards the principal which covered the down payment, but we were still required to put down $500 cash (for good measure I guess?). The price was different then of course, but it worked something like that anyway. ;)

When we bought, our choices were SSR and AKV. We went with AKV for the extra bathroom and the interior hallways vs the exterior condo type style of SSR. We were going to hold out for BLT, but when our guide told us how many more points each stay there would cost, we went ahead and bought AKV that day and we couldn't be happier!

thanks for all the info! This is really putting more information in my "pot" and of course making me more excited to move forward.......Just have to convince DH that it works well for us.....I need to speak with the guide that I have recieved all the information from......if we could have the points from last year and this year - that would be amazing and make for an awesome trip to Disney to start our ownership! Any additional advice/info is very welcomed!
