Can I see what a DL AP looks like?

Is there someplace where I could see what a DL AP looks like? Otherwise is there a way some one could either scan or take a photo of an AP with the pertinent info blacked out of course. If I'm asking for too much let me know but as a long time WDW AP holder (and possible future DL and or DLP AP holder) I'd like to see these DL APs that are supposed to be so great. Also I'm not one of these WDW snobs, in fact I prefer DL over WDW, if only it were a bit closer.

Plastic card.

Who says that they are great??????

Only post I've seen on the WDW forums about DLR aps was my post, and I was saying it's no better than your Tyvek ones! My barcode still works (gets me in, gets me FPs most of the times), but my mag strip is dead so CMs get to type in my number when buying food, or they just hit the button for "DVC discount" (even though I legally am not a member...my husband is) to save time.

This is :offtopic: , but Lights_Out I simply MUST ask what the story is behind your signature picture. Princesses in full regalia at the parking structure. How did that happen? :)

I've been curious as well Lights_Out, it's a very cool picture!

I wish I could answer your curiosities, but unfortunately I did not take the picture :worried: I wish I knew! :wizard:

Hmm, upon closer inspection, it's possible that it could be photoshopped. Still a great picture either way! :thumbsup2

Ummm... I realize this is on a photo sharing site, but I don't really know if we should assist in circulating this image. It's a real person's AP, with photo, name, and bar code (even if the numbers are blurred). Seems like something we really shouldn't be helping find its way into other people's hands.

Michael623, what is supposed to be so fantastic about DLR APs? Never heard that before. (Sort of makes me giggle.) By the way, there are other designs you can get depending upon when you get your AP.

OT: The parking garage photo is absolutely 'shopped.

Current/former DL AP holders always seem a bit disappointed when they find out that WDW has boring paper (tyvek) passes without a picture. I kind of took it from these reports that the DL APs must be way cooler. I actually find this DL AP cooler than my WDW AP. I guess after several years of passes that never really change and look just like any other pass, anything different seems cool.

The thing I like best about the DL APs vs the WDW APs (and I have both) is that my picture is on my DL AP. At the turnstiles the CMs have a big screen in front of them where my full-size photo comes up, so all they have to do is look at that and look at me - no stupid time-consuming finger-scanning required like at WDW. It really speeds things up at the entrance turnstiles - of course park entrance is also faster because the CMs scan our tickets themselves rather than running them through the ticket reader like at WDW - and I'm sure most of us have had the experience of our ticket not scanning for one reason or another - another thing that slows people down at the park entrance.

Aw and here I was thinking the picture was a D23 thing. :)

The AP is expired...when you actually renew, do you keep the same number on your AP? I didn't actually renew (got a better deal in a different way) and mine has a completely different number...so if my AP were shown it would just be my pic and name...though I don't have as interesting a name as he does. :3dglasses

I guess when you've had problems with your AP for 2 years, you just hope that something else is better. I do like the picture thing, but on the other hand, WDW will replace, for FREE, your AP if you lose it, while DLR charges 20 bucks unless you have a police report about it being stolen.

To me there are pluses and minuses on both sides.

Also, the plastic scratches up like you wouldn't believe. And if you're a Disneyland optimist (as I am) and carry it in your wallet at all times, just in case, it's even worse.

I almost always renew by mail - and I get a new AP number each time, so I have to go and update my disneyland.com/ap account.

I also carry my AP in my wallet all the time, but I haven't had a problem with scratches on it - it's in a pocket with several other cards if that makes a difference.

Mine has the balloons too, love it! :) When we first got them they were like the one in the picture but when we upgraded in Feb we got the new ones with the balloons on them. :)

I didn't renew the way most people do but I know that mine have 2 different bar codes on them.
