Can I Rent Points For A Cruise?

I'm trying to help a fellow co-worker plan a Disney cruise for December 2009 and wondered if it would be more cost effective to contact a DVC owner & rent points or just pay direct thru Disney. Any suggestions?

This would be for a 3 night Bahamas cruise for 2 adults & 2 children (3 & 10) to depart 12/3/09. Thanks!

I would think the cash rate from DCL would be less than the DVC points * rental rate.

No, not cost effective. Most DVC members rent their points out and use the proceeds to book the cruise for cash, because it is more economical to do so.

It would cost more unless you found distressed points and you'd have less flexibility, protection and cancelation options.

It seems that the Concierge Collection and DCL are almost always cheaper using cash rather than points.
