Can I pick your brains?

Sorry! I didn't mean to spark a debate over WDW Vs US/IOA!!! Great to see that so many people have different opinions about the attractions though.
Does anyone know when I can book for August 09? I have asked my local TA, but she was as much use as Rio Ferdinand!LOL

Johnnysharp2... Tha Avatar IS a January target for Mr Sven, along with Mr J Cole, Mr M Owen and Mr P Crouch!

You can have Mr Crouch mate, reckon he and Mickey will make a good partnership.

Don't worry about the WDW v. US/IOA debate , it's just a matter of opinion, I like both.
I just feel you deserve a balanced opinion on the merits of everything on offer, only then can you make your own mind up.
You could do US/IOA in one day really, they are literally a few minutes walking distance apart.

The important thing is we keep answering your questions and helping you decide.

You should be able to book well in advance, I would try in about 6 months time or so. It can vary depending on who you are flying with.

Any questions just feel free to ask, at least we can all agree there is plenty on offer in Florida to suit everyone's tastes.

When we booked our trip, it was Jan 2007, this was for our holiday in April 2008. So I think you'll be able to book about 16/17 months out before you travel. It's better this way also, as you can pay monthly, which then eases the cost a little along the way.

As with the debate over a car or not, we're going and not having one (because I'm too scared to drive :rotfl: ) and staying on Disney property. I think we'll end up using busses and taxi's to be fair, which we've budgeted for, so we don't mind the extra cost. We'll only be travelling to Discovery Cove, SeaWorld and Universal on the odd day, so we've decided to spare me the terror of having to drive on the wrong side of the road!!

I think if your only time you can make it is August, then go for it, just make sure to take plenty of fluids on board, shade from the midday sun, take a few breaks back at the hotel (maybe hit the pool) and I'm sure you'll still have a great time!

Good Luck with the planning, it'll all be worth it in the end!

on the isue of parks,we now tend to do disney one year, waterparks and hotel pools one year.universal/bush/seaworld one year.that way were not cramming in too much parks each year.Havent been to universal or seaworld for 3 years now so looking forward to going next year

We have been to WDW 8 times and had not been in August until this last August.

Never again will I subject my family to that heat whilst paying twice as much for the discomfort. We had a miserable time compared to going in October or April.

We are Disney Vacation Club members and will not be going back now until my daughter leaves school as the only two weeks I can take off work during school holidays is August.

I don't think you can compare to a med holiday as you tend to run around and queue at parks etc a lot more in WDW. Whereas a beach holiday in the med is usually about lazing around.

Have also gone without a car once but ended up hiring one for a couple of days as we needed to go shopping etc. Obviously I would recommend staying on site (as we bought a disney time share!)but we know we much prefer it after trying off site and really not liking it all compared to on site.

Everyone has different opinions and I know plenty will disagree with me, but you did ask. Hope you enjoy your planning and your holiday.

I think you need to know what kind of weather you like as everyone is different.
This year we have been Xmas, April and August, for weather August was perfect for us, in parks early morning, out at 2pm ish to sunbathe/swim or sleep for a couple of hours then meal and back in parks for evening. Xmas and April was very cold some days, needing fleeces, not my kind of weather.
For others like yourselves its too hot.

Very difficult for us, with Joshua at school and my wife a teacher the summer holidays are the obvious time to go.
Found it really hard in August 2005/2006, I wasn't so bad but Julie and Josh really struggled - not much fun when you get to the parks and after an hour he has had enough.
He loved it at the villa but just hated it out in the heat.

Managed just about to get everything sorted for our next trip in March but unless Julie moves to a new school it will be back to summer after that.
We are away for 3 weeks next March and because of the difference between Julie and Josh's school hours, he is actually off for 2 further weeks after we get back - so it's probably July and August after that I am afraid.

Part of the attraction is the nice weather, but when it's near 100 degrees that's a different story.
