Or does it have to be in the carry on? I'm afraid it will break if banged around in the luggage, but don't want to have to discard it if its not allowed in the carry on. Anybody know?

I'm not sure what a hot air brush is? Can you explain what it is? Thanks.

Its a brush instead of a blower, so it styles with heat. You plug it in.

I carried on my blow dryer last time I flew because I didn't want the weight in my suitcase. I don't see it being a problem. I don't know exactly what one of those things looks like, but as long as it's not a weapon in disguise, I don't forsee an issue.

It's not a gel / liquid / or any other type of combustable item so it wont be a problem. The worst case would be if for some reason they didnt know what it was they may open your bag to look at it, but they may do that for any reason. But it wont be a problem at all.

I always pack mine in my carry on in an outside pocket. I leave the brush attachment on the blower part, so they can identify it when the bag goes through x-ray. I am careful to place that side up when I put my carry on in the overhead compartment. No probs:thumbsup2
