Can I call twice and make two dinner ADRs for different restaurants for each night we're there and then cancel one of them once I have a better idea of what we'll be doing each day?

Thanks.

No. Only 1 ADR per meal per day. So in other words you cant make 2 ADRs one for CRT for 8am and one 1900 Park Fare for 9am. You CAN however make 3 ADRs for each day. One for between 7:30 and 11am, one for 11am - 4pm for lunch and one for 4pm - whenever the TS place closes for dinner. You try to make 2 ADRs for 2 different places for the same time frame, not only is it cheating the system (calling back using different name, different phone #), its DEF. not welcome here on the boards - infact its a HUGE No-no and plus if you even tried using the same name and phone number, the computer would cancel the one you made earlier and replaced it with the new one.

You cannot on the same call and there is a strong possibility that you could not add one on a different call. I had an ADR in place and had been calling daily for 1900 PF. On the day before we left one ADR opened up but I was not sure my DD would be comfortable with the time available. I never offered that I had another ADR for that evening and would have canceled it as soon as I talked to DD, but the CM would not make one without canceling the other. I have no idea what info I provided that brought the old one up :confused3. Anyway, I canceled the one and hoped DD was fine with the time.

Welcome to the DIS! What an INTERESTING question for your first post! popcorn::

You probably don't want to try that...

No, that's part of the reason many cannot get a reservation. Disney does know since all your reservations are linked. The duplicate reservations makes is so hard for those just trying to make one!

I recently called to add an ADR to my trip and the CM would not let me add it without cancelling the old one!

It's a valid question, but it generates a lot of heat on the boards.

Lots of folks think "oh, what does it matter if I do this, what difference will one extra reservation make?" But, it's not just one reservation. As hard as it is to get reservations now, can you imagine how bad it would be if even 25% of Disney guests made an extra reservation they had no intention of keeping?

That's why they can't allow it, and will cancel your reservations right out from under you.

OK - I have a twist on this. We have a group of 12 staying in two two-bedrooms. There are 4 different couples/families and we don't plan on eating together all the time (we did this last year and it was a hassle). Will there really be a problem making different dinner reservations for the different families?
Example
2 at Le Cellier
4 at Chefs de France
4 at Jiko
2 at Askerhaus

all for the same night?

Shouldn't be a problem. I think they add up the # of people...so say you have 10 people. If you make 2 Dinner ADRS for 5 people each, that's 10 people so they will allow both to stay.

I agree. They can see the reservations you have and that should be no problem.
