I am not a DVC member, but traded into OKW for my January stay through II. Can I still request a certain area through MS?

I would think that you could request general areas. "Near Hospitality House" however is a specific booking category, and you could probably not get that one.

Remember, that all requests, except "Near HH" are not guaranteed, even for DVC Members.

You can certainly request it but who knows if you'll get it. I am a DVC member that traded in a bonus week from another timeshare trade and requested to be near the Hospitality House. When I checked in - we were in South Point - a real hike from the HH. But keep in mind that you can hop any bus going to any park to get around the resort as they all stop at HH last and then head to the parks.

You can request anything you want. As noted, there are hard booking categories and it depends on what was deposited with II. You could have either booking category and that is what you will get on check in. I'm sure you know about the extra $95 fee to DVC in addition to your exchange fee. The confirmation will have the DVC confirmation # on it (different from the II #) and the phone number to call. When you call, tell them you'll pay the fee at check in just in case something were to happen. You can also make dining reservations through DVC and add the Dining Plan if you want but you must do it for the entire 7 days (even if you stay less) and for ALL in the party even if they are not there the entire time. I would generally recommend against the DDP but you should judge it for yourself. Congrats on your exchange. While I am a DVC member, most of our trips the last few years have been on exchanges as well.

Yes, I know about the $95 and the DDP.

We have booked a one bedroom, but I think I will call and add a requested location. I am experienced with making requests at Disneyworld resorts when booking through CRO, but this is the first time we used a timeshare week so I wasn't sure what the deal was.

Unless you won't have a car, plan to do much pool time, grill out or have special needs I don't think it matters much for OKW. And the best requests are not necessarily the same for each of those situations.

I'm also an owner and exchange in often using one of my other TS weeks. I called MS a couple weeks ago to paid the $95 fee for our upcoming exchange and was told that this fee is now paid for when checking in, this must be new since I paid over the phone for my last exchange.

Was I told correctly is this fee now being paid for at check-in vs. over the phone. Thanks.

Apparently they've changed it fairly recently. In the past it was either way and they were moving more and more to doing it at check in. I always wait just in case something happened so I could save the $95 fee.
