I am trying to make ADR for two. It seems they don't have alot of tables for two avaliable. Can I may ressies for 3 people and go there with only two ?

I read it somewhere in the travel guide.

Thanx!!

Technically no you cannot and you can be turned away if you do, now whether they will or not who knows.

I was having trouble getting an ADR for 2 people during one of our trips, and the CM on the phone actually suggested making it for 3 people, since there are fewer tables set up for 2 people than for 3. When you get to the check-in desk, just tell them one of your party couldn't make it. It would be a shame if you couldn't dine at one of your favorite places just because you were a party of 2.

I'm kind of torn about this. On one hand it doesn't seem right to make an ADR for more people then you know will actually be dining. On the other hand, it really isn't fair to not be able to eat at whatever restaurant just because you are only two people.

That being said, there have been times when DF was supposed to join me at Disney, and then things have come up and he couldn't. I'd already made an ADR for two people, but will go anyway since I'm fine eating solo, and will just say DF couldn't make it.

Also, I wouldn't suggest doing that for any meal that has a credit card guarantee.

Thanx a lot. actually it is one of the CM suggested me to do so. Dont feel really good about it, but i got the dinner at chef mickey.

oh By the way, Am I going to lose 1 TS credit if only two persons show up? Since I am on dining plan and use is for ADR?

Thanx

Huh?? How come they'll accept a 3 person ADR but not a 2 person? I'm confused?? Isn't that discriminatory? :confused3

They have an inventory of the tables at the restaurant. For example, they may have 10 tables that fit 1 or 2 people, 20 tables that fit 3 or 4 people, 10 tables that fit 5 to 6, etc. If all the 2 people tables are gone, they will not take a reservation for 2. This is to maximize occupancy at the restaurant.

Thanx for the info. I am still a little worried. Am I going to lose 1 TS credit if only two persons show up? Since I am on dining plan and use is for ADR.

Is CM one of the pre-pay places? I dont think it is? So I wouldnt think you would be charged because one of your party failed to show up. Pretty sure it was a friend that lives in the area, that was just going to pay OOP and meet you at the resort wasnt it? :)

Now remember, TECHNICALLY you could be turned away for not having three and only having 2.. Or if it's going to be a hassle, you may decide to burn a TS so you dont have to wait. That'll be up to you (or pay OOP if it's cheaper that way). You'll just have to see.

I have been having a terrible time finding ANY ADR's for my week, so I thought I would try this and see what happened. I told the CM that it could be two OR three people. I was able to get two of my restaurants right away for parties of 3. I asked the CM what I should do if I found out that it would be only two of us. Should I call and change them? She said, "No, just tell them when you get there!"

I am slightly nervous about it.

If you had someone in your party get sick, would they really turn you away?

no I don't think they would turn you away. We were there in Dec 2005 and had ADRs at Akershus, DS5 got sick so DH took DS11 and DS6 to eat while I took DS5 back to the room. We went from a party of 5 to 3 and had no issues and the ADRs were even in my name.

oh and we had ADR's at CRT in August 2006 for 4, our friends had to cancel their trip at the last minute and I was advised by WDW-DINE not to change the ressie, or we never would have gotten in. they just adjusted it when we got there and we got a table for 2.
