Can I have two reservations for the same date / people booked at once?

My group currently has a trip booked for this October, prior to any discounts. I plan on caling tomorrow to try and see when new options might be available - however I am not the original person who booked the reservation (just one of the 14 names on the reservation). The manager of this trip is out of the contry and won't be able to call until the end of next week.

Would Disney allow me to book a completely new reservation with the same set of names? I would imagine I could push it through on the phone by not mentioning an existing resevration - but I am worried their system might catch it in the background and automatically cancel one of them.

Can I just go ahead and modify the first reservation even though I am not the one that booked it (have the name, reservation #, cc#, etc).

If you make it in your name I see no reason why not. :) Just my view MHO

Just saw that you wanted to know if you change make changes to the existing that I don't think so but not sure.

I've made a separate reservation using the exact same names and same dates, though I booked it for a different resort. I only had three people on the room - but I doubt that matters. I did have to put another deposit down, but I didn't run into any problems, and neither one was cancelled by Disney until I cancelled it (which was 3 days later after my wife decided which resort she wanted to stay at).
