I am traveling with my DH and 2 DS (17 & 14). Can I get adjoining rooms and combine reservations?

Absolutely! We got hooked on 2 rooms due to the convenience factor. They will link the reservations. It's a bit more expensive than 4 in one room but the extra space is worth it. Not to mention you get twice the credit for your Castaway Club status!

Have fun!

Yes, for our first cruise we had two adjoining rooms. Officially one adult will be listed in each room and the kids divided but we left the adjoining door opened ( propped opened by our box of wine bottles) the kids had 1 room and the adults took the other. Worked well!

Just to be clear and assure no booking errors.

Two cabins next to each other without a connecting door are described as "adjoining."

I like the box of wine idea too :)

Yes as long as you have someone over 18 in each room.... You'll probably need to complete the parent authorization form to ensure that each parent can disembark at the port with the kids on their own if needed.

How do you get double the credit? Each person is only booked once on the ship either way.....

Really! How does that work? Do you place everyone on both reservations? Wouldn't that cause you to pay extra?

Sorry, this is NOT true. Castaway Club status is based on number of cruises, not the number of staterooms or the number of nights.

OP, yes you may get 2 staterooms for one family. Many families do this to have extra space, particularly when traveling with teens or a large family. You will need to book 1 adult into each stateroom, but DCL doesn't care who sleeps where once you are onboard and you can get extra room key cards if needed.

Enjoy your cruise!

Each room would receive Castaway Cay gifts. Perhaps that's what started the confusion. And if you book two rooms for a future cruise while onboard, each room would receive an onboard booking credit, making it appear that your family is receiving double the credits. And our travel agent gives each room an onboard credit.

But Castaway Cay status is determined by the number of cruises each individual passenger has taken.

I agree, the double rooms did not increase our Castaway Club status. We just gained extra space and that extra bathroom which was great! This time we are just doing one room because of the costs and I am nervous about how we are all going to deal with the lack of space. But we spent so little time in our rooms the first time that we are gambling that it will be the same this time.

As mentioned you would not receive an increase in Castaway Club status but you would get castaway club benefits (CC gifts, etc.) for each cabin. We have done this several times.

We book a veranda room for ourselves and put the kids in an inside room across the hall. Like others have said you will need to book an adult in each cabin. Then you will need to get an extra set of room key cards so you can get in the kids room and vice versa.

We have Booked on the Fantasy July 26
There will be 7 of us
Connecting room on deck 12 (Concierge) 1 Bedroom Suite with Verandah and Family Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah
I also understand the divider between the two Verandah can be removed to make one large Verandah

Thanks for the advice! I was able to book connecting rooms 7080 & 7082 on the a Dream. So excited for our 1st cruise and happy we will have the extra room.
