Can I Get This Cheaper?

We are trying to go to Disneyland in April staying for 4-5 nights. For 5 staying at the Marriott Suites, breakfast included and parkhopper passes is $1300.. I have no type of discounts and don't know of any. Is this probably the cheapest that I can get? I figured that for 5 of us to get into 1 park for 1 day is almost $200.00.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Whitney221 and welcome to the Dis!:sunny: You can get a lot of advise on the Dis boards, but you can also check out this site: www.mousesavers.com
Have fun planning your trip!

I think the Disney Club discount would beat that but they are no longer taking new members. Call WDW and check your rate against a AAA membership discount rate. It is often comparable to the Disney Club discount. Then join up with AAA for their $7 a month deal with usually the first three months free. If you don't already have an AAA membership, it's great to know that if you or a family member lock your keys in your car, get a flat, or need a tow, it will be covered. Along with it being a bond card in case you get stopped for a ticket out of state. You can't post your driver's license in other states so you would otherwise need to post cash. Nice to have the card just in case. If you're a Disney nut, it is probably worth it to cancel a Mobil, Shell, BP/Amoco or whatever auto club card to get the AAA instead for the Disney discounts.

Disnee Dad Says..........................We need more info. 5 people of what ages. Where do you live? How flexible with dates? This sounds like a package deal, and if it is you can do better by doing it yourself. Post details, or send me a PM with them and I will help.
I know my tag line shows four trips to WDW, but we have been to Disneyland seven times also.

Disnee Dad Says..............................We stayed at a Marriot's, just north of DL, it didn't have the name "suites" in it but was a nice place. Also stayed at the Residence by marriot, the closest one to DL. That was a super deal, less than $100 a night, included happy hour, which paid for the room itself!!! lol. And happy hour had snacks, like smoked sausage, mini hamburgers, fruit and vegatables. It would hold five easy and it had a kitchen, that we used twice in five days!
It takes a little work to hunt down good rates, but it is well worth it. BTW the Residence we stayed at was VERY quiet, a couple blocks from any major street, and had basketball courts and three pools! Damn, now I want to go back!

There are 2 adults, children ages 7, 10 & 12. The dates aren't really flexible due to husband picked these dates last year.
April 14-17 or 18th. We were also going to go to Legoland since we haven't been there since that opened also.
The hotel that is in the package is the Marriott Suites, Garden Grove. I have no other discount available to me with the exception of AAA. I could join connections at Mypoints if it is worth it. I did find at the mousesavers.com that I could probably get 3 day parkhopper passes through either ticketmania or a Fl. ticket agency for less.
We live in OR and are driving to Disneyland, probably leaving the 11th.
I thank you for your help! You are great!

Whitney, when we went last May, I bought our tickets through Getawaytoday.com. They offer packages for Disneyland for the onsite hotels as well as the good neighbor hotels. The prices they list are for the room and two adult passes. They have discounted prices available for the additional passes you'll need. Good luck and happy planning! DU

Sorry, I confuse easily--are you going to Disneyland or Walt Disney World in Fl. I can offer advice for WDW but not Disneyland.

If you haven't already, you may want to post your question on the Disneyland board here on the DIS. There are a lot of Californians there that can give you some suggestions. I would recommend a different hotel. Although Garden Grove is fine, its not really THAT close to Disneyland. You will have to deal with some traffic (which is no fun in CA). There are Marriotts closer to DL, such as the Residence Inn that was suggested by someone else. Others have like the Candy Cane Inn ( I think that's the name of it) across the street from DL. Good luck!! :D

Yes, you definitely can do this cheaper! We are staying at the Holiday Inn at the Park in June for $49.80 per nite, I just checked it for your dates and it is available for the same rate. (1/2 mile to Disneyland). Kids under 12 eat free at the restaurant in the hotel. You can get the 5 day hopper for the price of for 119.00 adult and 95.00 kids. Hotel for 5 nights = $273.90 including tax. 5 day passes=$595.00 By my calculations total for hotel and passes for your family=$869.00 versus $1300.00 for the package you described. Savings of $431.00. FYI, Marriott suites would probably be considered a 4 star hotel versus this Holiday Inn being rated a 3 star hotel , but if your really not into the frills I think it is a good deal. The holiday Inn has a pool, game room, pay per view in room movies etc. Those are the kinds of things I know I look for that make my kids happy at a hotel. Hope this helps you. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your info benebire. I just booked two rooms for 7 nights at the Holiday Inn you mentioned for this July/August. The rate is a couple of dollars higher for Fri/Sat nights, but this seems to be a great rate!

Just a comment - we stayed at a Residence Inn in November - very satisfied with it! (Alabama).

Wouldn't I need 2 rooms at the Holiday Inn? Usually I do when they are regular rooms, that's why a few years ago we started going with some of the Suites Hotels. Though the kids eating free is a big help. The Marriott has a pool, video games etc..
We are going to Disneyland. Wishing for WDW, but can't do that just yet.

Thank you,

Whitney

Disnee Dad Says.............................We also stayed at Dessert Inn and Suites. It was ok, nothing fancy but it was a suite for like $59 or $69. Right across from DL. I rhink I used the entertainment book to get the rate.

Thanks Disnee Dad. I was thinking that maybe I should get an entertainment book for CA.

Whitney

The Holiday Inn at the park does allow 5 per room but I dont know if they offer rollaways, so you might have 3 children sleeping in one queen bed. Good luck and have a great trip whatever you decide.
