My flight arrives at MCO at 10:40PM. I am planning on using Magical Express, but don't want to get woken up at 3Am when they deliver my luggage.

Can I get my own luggage and take it with me on the ME bus?

If I can do this, then I gues I wouldn't put the ME tags on my bag, right?

Thanks for any help!!!

Correct but it might be easier to just take a carryon bag with whatever you need for the first night and let them delivery your bags the next morning. Particularly if you airline uses the B side of the terminal.

Lewisc is right - they really WON'T deliver your luggage at 3 AM! More like 8 AM or so, some reasonable hour.

I don't feel comfortable at all not having my luggage with me. The biggest relief for me after getting off a flight is being reunited with my suitcase. The idea that you don't get your luggage right away at your hotel seems crazy to me. Sure, I can put stuff in my carry-on, but if I need something in my suitcase then I have to wait hours until they deliver it? It's mine, and I want it with me. Maybe I'm crazy, but I'm not leaving the airport without my suitcase in hand.

I actually agree with Iluvmgm. Yes I know lots of DISers feel it is "magical" to have the bags end up in your room. But I prefer to get my bags in my posession after I land. Its not an inconvenience to us-they will go with us on the ME bus, and if the room isnt ready when we check in, we will check them at the resort. But atleast we know they are there, and will be there when are room is ready. I bring lots of stuff on vacation and I dont want to have to worry about what I did or didnt put in the carry on.
In th OP's situation, waiting overnight to get my luggage is silly and a waste. Bring it with you so you arent waiting until 8am(or later) the next day for luggage.

I have the opposite opinion. :goodvibes I'm one of the ones who feels pampered by the DME luggage handling. I don't consider getting my bags the next morning (after a very late night arrival) "silly" or "wasteful" at all. But I guess that has to do with how I travel in general, no matter where or when I travel by air.

I pack my carry-on with EVERYTHING I need for the first 24 hours of my trip. I did this years before DME started, and I did it when I used DME in May. Airlines can delay or lose luggage. It's happened to me twice over the past 15 years. In both of those instances, of course I was stressed that the airline might have lost my luggage, but at least I was physically comfortable during that first day (I got my bags each time, maybe a half-day later) because I had my own toiletries, medications, change of underwear and socks, fresh set of clothes, etc.
