Can I Get DVC AP Discount if Upgrading MYW Tickets?

My family has a WDW trip planned for March '09, staying at BCV on points rented from a fellow DISer. We are considering purchasing a DVC contract by resale, but have not found THE one yet. To add to the mix, there is speculations that ticket prices will increase next weekend, based upon historical data.

So, here is my question. If I go ahead & purchase MYW tickets for our March trip before the price increase, and then we end up purchasing a DVC contract, can I upgrade my tickets to an annual pass & receive the DVC discount? I didn't know if you got the discount when you purchased straight from Disney, or if you had to purchase through MS.

Yes you can upgrade later a any Guest Services location. You will need your DVC Member card and a picture ID.

I was going to ask the same question! What if you already purchased a MYW ticket from a third party (Undercover Tourist)... can you upgrade that ticket to an AP at Guest Relations and still get the DVC discount?

My DH and I went to Disney for what we thought a week vacation and ended up leaving DVC members!

And while down there we decided to upgrade to AP. Guest Relations told us we had to do it on our last day or otherwise we couldn't use the card to charge to the room anymore. We charge EVERYTHING to the room, so we waited until the last day, and then upgraded while getting the DVC discount. We just had to show our DVC cards and photo IDs.

We bought a discounted ticket from undercover tourist and when we went to upgrade the lady at the ticket counter advised us to use the ticket at least one time before asking to be upgraded--that way we would get full face value credited to the purchase of the price of a DVC annual pass cost--she said that if she did a new unused ticket we would only be credited for the discounted purchase price. We took her advice and used the ticket that day and then stopped by on our way out that evening to complete the transaction and I can confirm we did receive the full face value off the price of the ticket and not the amount we paid.
