Just noticed our airfare has gone down $20 a ticket (we bought 4). Will Delta give us a voucher for the difference? If so, do I just call the main number? Thanks.

If it is a web fare, no, they will not issue a voucher, you can call and try, but, it has been my experience that the only time you will get a voucher is if you have called them directly to make a reservation.

I'm not sure about Delta but I would call them anyway. When we bought tickets from NorthWest from online and the prices went down on line, they did give us a travel voucher to be used within 1 year. I had to specifically call tho. Good luck.

I also forgot to mention, if they do give you the difference, the new available fare has to be the same date, same time and same rate code, in other words everything has to be identical.

The only airline I've had luck on with this is United. My daugthers got one on Delta last year, but they were reluctant.

I have received vouchers for Delta when the rates have gone down. But I book my tickets at the airport and personally know the ticket agents.

I booked mine on the delta website last Sept and it went down a i called and got a voucher. I would try.

This is from the Delta.com website.

If I have purchased a ticket and a new fare is introduced, can I obtain a credit?
Yes, in many cases you may obtain a credit voucher (non-refundable tickets) or refund (refundable tickets) at any Delta airport ticket counter, City Ticket Office location, or over the phone (e>tickets only) for the difference in fare. A fee will apply for non-refundable tickets purchased for international travel.

When we introduce new fares or reduce a current fare in a particular market, you may change a ticket to the new fare if:

the change is made prior to departure
you do not change the flight, date, origin, destination or stopover points
reservations are confirmed in the appropriate class of service
all fare restrictions are met
the lower fare is not a special delta.com only fare
Any applicable penalties are retroactive to the new fare ticket.

It really is not who you know, it is where you purchased the ticket and the type of fare.

I didn't say it's who I know, I was just reasoning why I have never had any trouble. I couldn't say for sure because I don't work through the "traditional" channels.

Actually, you work through the old fashioned traditional channels, you know, what a lot of us did before the internet. :)

Thanks for all the info. When I punched in the exact flights it was $10 per ticket instead of $20. Not as big a difference so I may see if it goes down a little more.

You should get the vouchers for the $10 difference anyway. If the fare goes down again Delta will give you another voucher. I once had fare go down five times before the flight and Delta issued vouchers each time without a problem.

Thanks everyone I called this morning and got $10 per ticket voucher. That $40 will help a little when we fly to see my brother in October. To redeem the vouchers do you have to call Delta to reserve your tickets or can you redeem them over the internet? Thanks again. Denise

True, I didn't think of it that way. It's faster and easier for me to do it the "oldfashioned" way than the new way. rofl.

I don't think you can redeem the vouchers over the internet. I've usually called Delta or gone to the ticket counter.
