LoL! I know that probably sounds like a ridiculous question - but we are going to do it! (Looks like it would be okay in checked bags?) We love toasted bagels for breakfast and will be ordering from gardengrocer.com to have the food supplies. Should be okay, right?

You would be fine with it checked. My friend has done it several times for the same reason. :thumbsup2

Why don't you just use the toasters in the food court instead of violating fire codes to bring your own toaster?

The airlines won't have any problem with a toaster in your checked bag.

Because the point is being able to have breakfast before we are ready to leave the room. Considering the villas are all equipped with toasters - I don't think we will be violating any fire codes. And, I would imagine a toaster is no more (probably even LESS) of a fire issue than a flat iron or a curling iron! (We will have several of those packed, as well!) :)

Villas have different ventilation and sprinkler requirements due to the cooking appliances. Also as a matter of courtesy your neighbors may not wish to smell your burnt toast.

From Shades of Green website (since fire codes are state wide it would be applicable to all of disney. I bolded the relevant part)

Rooms and Reservations: Maximum number of rooms per sponsor is three (this includes suites). Maximum number of guests in standard, poolside, or ADA rooms is five; junior suites sleep a maximum of six guests; suites sleep eight guests total. Military sponsors should not reserve additional rooms under their name for other eligible military/DoD sponsors. Sponsored guests must be accompanied by the military/DoD sponsor at check-in and throughout the entire stay. A room reserved with multiple sponsors should be reserved based on the highest-ranking person. Reservations are not transferable.

Room Rates: Room Rates are based on military rank or civilian grade at the time of check-in. If you are a retired military member, your rate will be based on the rank achieved at the time of your retirement. Retired civilian members of the military community will pay the Category #3 rate. For others associated with the military (i.e. 100% disabled Veterans, Medal of Honor Recipients, etc.), please click here for Room Rate details. Room Rates are based on two adults occupying a standard room and four adults occupying the suites; for single occupancy, subtract $2 from the listed rate. Add $15 per additional adult 18 years or older. E1 through E5 and Cadet sponsor and dependents will receive the rate that applies to category one; any additional sponsored rooms will receive the rate that applies to category two. Room Rates are subject to change without notice.

Deposits: To secure your reservation, Shades of Green requires a deposit equivalent to 1-night of your stay. The credit card given in your reservation will be charged this deposit. If you cancel your reservation outside the Shades of Green cancellation policy, your deposit will be returned.

Cancellation and Modification of Reservations: Shades of Green has a 30-day change or cancellation policy. Unless you are staying in a villa or a Art of Animation suite that has kitchen facilities, toasters are not allowed.

Wow - thanks for all the really great information!! :) :) :) :) :)

You'll need to bring your license to carry a concealed toaster and make sure it's not loaded when you check your bags. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Also, if you need anything other than the standard 9mm or 38 cal. Bread/bagels you might have to special order it at a local Bakery. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Just kidding, You should be o.k., just let them know about it when you check your bag. :worship::worship:

Good luck all,
Joe

It'll be interesting to see whether said toaster makes it to its destination without being damaged. I would think with all the bags being thrown around and stacked on top of one another that said toaster is going to take a nice little beating.

It's unlikely to be damaged. However, why take one; you can't use it in the hotel room (as already explained).

Note that if you do put a toaster in your checked luggage you are greatly increasing the chances that TSA will physically inspect your luggage, which generally results in your clothes getting all messed up.

Another tip ... if you get one of the small swords at Cindy's Royal Table ... same thing. They both look curious to the X-ray machine and make it likely your bag will be physically inspected.

Just sayin'

I own a condo in FL. I buy things in IL on sale and pack them up and take them in my suitcase. I have brought down a toaster, a mixer, and many other items during the past years. Nothing has ever been damaged. My husband just flew home with an ice bucket and a teapot we are taking in the other direction. I have never noticed any increase in TSA notices in my bags. Sometimes I have them, sometimes I don't. It doesn't really bother me.

So..everything else aside, I am saying flying with a toaster happens and it has gone well for me.

On our last visit we stayed at POP and rented a car rather than use Magic Express as we made few side trips away from Disney. That allowed us to stop off at Walmart and we bought a cheap toaster and coffee maker, less than $10 each. It worked out great. When left them in the room for either the next guest or possibly housekeeping removed them. During out stay they had no issue with them. We didn't return home with them as they took too much luggage space. So for under $20 we had both a coffee maker and toaster for the week. Well worth it.

I have been following the POR threads and they apparently allow toasters in the room and you can even request one. Seems like they have some for loan. It may depend on the resort. Gram

I just tried to search for "toaster" on both the POR and POFQ threads, and the search found nothing.:confused3

I have never heard of any resort allowing toasters in the rooms, unless it is a suite or a DVC unit. The resorts do provide toasters in the food courts for guests to use.

Honestly, the thought of masses of guests cooking in their rooms gives me the willies. You just know that some would bring things that are on their last leg, and probably shouldn't be in use anymore.

I have heard of people making toasted cheese with a clothes iron, why not toast a bagel with one. :lmao:
