Can I Fix This Newbie Waitlist Mistake?

I booked a Thanksgiving week stay at PVB, my home resort, before the 7 month window opened up. But I forgot to look when the 7 month window opened up to see if the other resorts we had in mind had availability. I looked a few days later and nothing we wanted was available.

I ended up making waitlist requests for 2 other resorts as separate bookings and not as a modification of the existing booking. Right now most of my points for this use year are tied up in the existing reservation along with another reservation for March.

Question 1:
After doing some reading, it is now my understanding that those waitlist requests cannot be fulfilled should they become available because my points are tied up in the 2 actual bookings I have. These requests will be cancelled due to not having enough points. Am I correct?

Question 2:
Is there anyway I can modify & tie those waitlist requests to the existing booking for the same dates, thus reversing my mistake?
 
1) Correct
2) You can’t modify it. You’ll need to cancel and make a new one with the option to cancel your current reservation so those points can be used.
 
You can either delete your current waitlist and create new ones detailing which reservation to cancel if they match, or contact member services and ask them to add that note to the waitlist that already exists.

I would suggest you call member services
