Can I feed Children Separately...Like somewhere else?

I have reserved the Wedding Pavillion & Whitehall at GF for the reception. My question is whether it is possible to have more people at the ceremony, invite 50 adults for the dinner at WHGF, and send teenagers (with a chaperone) to O'Hanas for dinner with the options of them joining us at WHGF after everyone is done eating for dancing. Bottom line is I don't think many of the kids will eat their value off the wedding menu and I would love to invite other adults to the reception. But since three of the kids are ours, would love for them to participate in the dancing, desserts, etc. WH has that patio so I could relegate them outside.....into July's heat.

Anyone ever done this? Is it allowed?

You don't have to pay full adult prices for kids to eat—you can provide a less expensive children's meal.

Usually what people do if they want the kids off somewhere else is book another room in the convention center for a kids' party. Not that you couldn't send them off to Ohana with chaperones, but just something to think about.

If you're having an Escape event, DFTW won't let you go over the Escape guest limit for any catered event planned through them. You'd have to plan your own at a nearby restaurant. If you're doing Wishes, the numbers don't matter unless you're talking about venue capacity.

I think a lot of it would depend on how the teenagers parents would feel about it. Would they be offended that their kids are not included? Would they be ok with them leaving? Who would chaperone? Maybe you could bring it up with some of the parents to feel them out? I wouldn't put them outside in July though, July is so, so hot here in FL. We rarely go out for more than 15-20 mins at a time in July.

Isnt the Whitehall rooms capacity 50? Since you'd have to include them in your guest count for the dancing, I don't think Disney will allow you to go over capacity.

Here is what we are doing:

6-7 cocktails in the whitehall room and patio for adults
7-11 reception for adults in salons 1-4

6-9 reception for guests under 12 in St. Augustine A .... will have a children's buffet and babysitting services through disney. After 9 they will join us for cake and dancing

We did this for several reasons: 7pm is late for little ones to eat, they usually don't like cocktail hour food and would rather go right to the kids food!, it gives parents a chance to enjoy some adult conversation without worrying about feeding and entertaining their kids, the kids don't have to try and stay still and listen through speeches.

Our guests love this and are very excited. The parents of the younger ones are also very pleased that they will be close by in case of an emergency and it puts any fears of being seperate from their kids at ease. We are doing under 12 but you could easily do under 18 and change the level of entertainment. We are ending it at 9 for all kids because we want them for dancing and cake but you could keep it going for however long you choose and pull out your own children to join you later if you want.
I am not sure if you can hold a seperate reception in another room for kids and provide your own chaperone. We wanted a disney chaperone so we never asked about alternatives.

Thanks everyone. The kids I'm thinking of are between 13 and 17 years (3 of whom are ours) old. There is about 15 of them total which takes up a large portion of our head count when there are several other adults I would love to invite. I have a friend's sister lives in Orlando and my thought was for her and her kids to go as chaperones to O'hana's next door to feed the teens. After dinner, they could come back for cake and dancing. It's an evening wedding...so if they can do the parks at night, they could do the patio at night.

If this doesn't work...its OK, I just won't invite the other adults to the wedding.

How flexible is Disney if I were to have to change reception locations?

That sounds like an awesome idea, if you dont mind sharing, about how much is this costing you to do? Do yo have to set up decor and everything for the kids room too for the few hours, is it through Kids Nite Out, etc? Great idea!

How flexible is Disney if I were to have to change reception locations?

We originally had the Whitehall room for our reception, but we didn't realize the guest count included us, so we had to move our reception since that made 52- it was no problem, just subject to availability. We just hit our 1 year, so we did this through our consultant, but he was helpful and gave us some good advice since we were on the fence, and I'm glad we did, because we are able to invite some more people and our space has additional flexibility.
