We have two left over days on a childs pass from a previous trip. We do not need these this trip but would like to trade this in for a one day mYw ticket for my MIL. Will they let me trade in (in other words get the value of the leftover days) from a child's ticket to get to buy a one day adult ticket? Anyone know or tried it yet?

Thanks

I know that you can exchange child tickets for a child who has grown into an adult. Meaning if you get your 8 year old a old park hopper ticket (never expires) and 3 years later need an adult ticket you can bring that then 11 year old and upgrade it (no charge. :cool1: ) The dates and ages need to coinside.

I don't think it would work for a over 20 year old, let alone a MIL (no mater how young of a grandma she is)

You might be able to get it to work if you bring the child, (who is now an adult) and exchange the ticket, and then use it for the MIL, but that would only work if they are not using the finger scaners on MYW tickets. I thought i heard they were.

The good news is you still have 2 days of a childs ticket left!

I don't think legally you can do that. Believe me when I tell you they go from child to adult at the speed of light! Sorry just couldn't resist!

:rolleyes1 :scratchin  :rolleyes1

Yes, you may do this.

The only time you would run into a problem is if you were trying to get an adult ticket from the child ticket for free.

You will get a pro-rated credit for the pass based on what Disney was paid. (Meaning - if you bought it from a wholesaler you lose markup - if you bought direct from Disney, you will receive what you paid for the ticket) You will then pay the difference between the new ticket and the value of the old ticket.

Love your answer! :teeth: I was thinking nearly the same thing!!! :earboy2:

(copied from another post)

Better to save it for your child's future if he is not going this time, and pay cash for your mother in law's ticket.

If your child is going, and the trip is 5 to 10 days, actually your child should exchange the ticket, save it for the future when he needs just 1, 2, or 3 days, and buy a new MYW ticket himself covering this entire vacation.

I should not say that, if your child needs 5+ days and your MIL needs 2 you can now all walk some distance away from the ticket booth and your child can hand the exchanged ticket to your MIL.

I couldn't resist. Isn't an old child already an adult so you don't need to exchange?

:rotfl: :rotfl: I didn't look at that when I posted the "can I exchange an old child for an adult" That is too funny. Really I think it was a slip because I am always trying to change my DH (old child) into an Adult!!

Thanks for the info DAN. I was just afraid that since I orginally bought the ticket for my son that I would not be able to place the value for his left over ticket towards an adult ticket for someone else. My son will still be using a child's ticket.

Also can we simply buy a one day entrance to a park and if so how much is that? Is that a basic one day MYW ticket? Will she have to be finger scanned?

Just double checking that with old hoppers we do not have to go through and scan our fingers right????

Thanks for your help.

Sorry - I thought you meant something else. My wife would probably consider a trade since she says I still need to grow up.

The new equivalent of a 1 day/1 park ticket is a 1 day base Magic Your Way. It'll run you slightly over $60 for an adult after tax. Not sure of the child's price. I assume it would probably be about $50-$55.

If your daughter is 9 or younger, regardless of admission, she won't have to do the finger scan. If she is 10 or older, she would need to do the finger scan for a Magic Your Way ticket, but NOT a park hopper ticket.

Old park hoppers don't require the finger scan. :)

I'm surprised that folks have succeeded in trading up child tickets for adult tickets prior to the child's turning ten, because tickets are not transferable.

I love the title to this thread. I was hoping it would tell me how to trade my 17 year old (old child) for a 26 year old (an adult) :rotfl2:

Sorry :earsboy:
