Can I double book a restaurant?

We just decided to change our plans and add the DDP to our trip. Now I'm only 90 days out and trying to get ADRs we want. I'm searching for Cinderella's Royal Table, and of course nothing is available. I plan to keep checking. However, in the meantime.....if I book something else, then CRT becomes available at the same time (or a similar time), will the system let me book it, since I will already have another ADR during that time?

After booking I would obviously cancel the other ADR, but wasn't sure if it would even let me book the second one at all.

I just feel like I can't book anything until I possibly find CRT otherwise....since we have 4 Magic Kingdom days that it could possible pop up during...

The system will tell you that you have a conflicting reservation when you try to book the second reservation. You can immediately cancel it and then add CRT.

So I should cancel the old reservation before adding the new one? Or when booking, when it says there is a conflicting reservation, does it give me the option to cancel it there?

I don't remember, and it may have changed since I last booked. I'm pretty sure it prompts you to fix the conflict. I would not cancel before starting the desired ADR.

Yes it gives you the option to cancel it there. It will not allow you to have 2 at the same time, but it will prompt you to cancel the first so you can add the second

The system also "holds" your first ADR until the second one is confirmed.... or at least that is what it says.

I believe it tells you when you agree to cancel the conflicting reservation that it will not cancel till the new one is confirmed.

The folks on the phone lines can override the double-booking restriction. Sometimes multiple reservations make sense.

In this case, it sounds like you legitimately would want to replace the original.

You can start booking the new one, and the system will guide you through booking new/canceling old. It is ez-pz if/when the ADR system is working properly.

Obviously, if the ADR system is blowing chunks on any given day... good luck.

IF????????????? I'd say based on the daily threads with the title "Is anyone else having trouble with MDE?" It's "WHEN" ;) Nice explanation on the cancel function though Aurora. :)

Like others have mentioned -- the system will let you know that there is a conflict with another reservation. So definitely book something now if you need to have a TS reservation, then if you happen to get CRT cancel the previous reservation. I have done that so that i secure at least something. I think the overlap that it will consider to be a conflict is somewhere between 45 min - 1 hour.

Like PP mentioned the system will let you find a reservation, let you know there is a conflict and if you wish to cancel the previous reservation. If there is no conflict of time it won't mention it. So if you secure CRT at a different time then you need to make sure you go in and cancel the previous reservation at least by 11:59 the night before (sooner to help out other!!) or you will be charged.

No, just wait until you find the reservation that you want. The system will have you cancel it as you're making the other reservation.

You do NOT cancel the first one before booking the second. The way the system works it will say you have a conflict and say something to the effect of "Do you want to replace this first reservation? If so it will not be cancelled until the second is added" The system will then book the second one and cancel the first all in the one transaction. ...no sometimes there is a glitch and it can be wonky..for example I wanted BOG at 8..already had one for 8:15 and got those messages just described but it didnt cancel the first..left me with both..good to go back through your reservations and check when all done. I didnt notice this for a week or so.

I've encountered too many glitches with the system to trust it to work properly when it is absolutely critical that it does - like trusting it to book that coveted ADR and not getting hung up in the process of confirming cancellation of the old ADR. If I have a backup reservation booked while still looking for something else, I will invariably use my other account to book it.

You can practice the process, op. Just book an ADR for an arbitrary date in the future, then book another one at the same time to see how the process works. Just be sure to cancel any practice ADRs.
