Can I do this???

Paul, it's ok to disagree. Still I feel one should lose the points rather than leaving someone hanging on the wait list if that is the only option. This is consistent with my understanding of the DVC rules on substituting points. I'm sorry if you see that as too harsh. I also stand behind my idea that DVC expects and actually plans for a certain amount of points expiring without being used.

Well, as much as I think it is unfair to switch points out when there is a wait list for that type unit...I agree with Dean, I need to know the real rules....and if someone else is doing it, then evey member should be able to do it! I guess it only causes problems, if DVC is actually keeping track of how many total points have been banked, how many have been borrowed. I thought it said in our member guide that Banking or Borrowing could have restrictions depending on allotment of points. I think it's been all evening out, but one never knows when they will say, the total number of points have been borrowed for this year!

Seems to me, if points can be easily reallocated, home resort or not, it would change things. I though they made the rules up in a certain way for a reason.

I know, one rule, when we first joined, was that you could not borrow from your next use year until you are in that use year ( I hated that rule ). But, that rule changed. I'm not sure if this helped or hurt the system.

But, no matter what, Member Services has to be consistant in the way they deal with reservations for rooms that have a wait list. The last time I heard was...If you want to change the reservation for any reason (other than request like Smoking, Non-Smoking), they have to cancel that reservation, it goes to the wait list first, then it must be re-booked. If that rule has changed, I sure wish Member Services would inform all the DVC Members of the rule change!

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
