Can I do this?

I'm planning our first Disney vacation since I was a kid. I've researched endlessly, but I'm still confused about what I can/cannot do regarding packages. I currently have a room booked with a pin for several nights in November. I would like to add a few dates to get better airfare, but can't get the pin rate for those dates. So I thought about splitting the stay, 3 nights with the pin and renting DVC points for 3 nights. I also want to do the Dining Plan, which I understand you can add when renting DVC points. But to do the Dining Plan with my Disney res, this means I will have to buy tickets too...so could I buy 5 or 6 day tickets from Disney with the package, even though I'm only staying 3 nights? Or is it one ticket per day of stay, like with the Dining Plan, I can only buy 3 days of dining for a 3 night stay?

You could be staying for 1 night and buy a 10 day ticket if you want. It usually doesn't matter, unless the discount you are using has a minimum requirement - i.e. free dining requires a 2-day ticket be purchased.
