Can I do this with my points?

We have a December use year, and will be getting our 200 points this December. I have already booked a February 2011 vacation, leaving 15 points in my account (from 2010 points, our 2009 points were gone). If I wanted to take a quick weekend getaway this September, could I borrow points for it (taking points from my February vacation) and then borrowing from my 2011 points to replace what I took?

Hope this makes sense!

Thanks!

You can as long as there's availability on the days that you have to cancel to borrow from. :)

I guess what I'm trying to say is, to "borrow" points from your Feb 11 trip you'll have to cancel some days and then rebook with your 2011 points. And as long as there's availability at the same resort/accommodation there should be no problem. If not then you might have to do split stay.

Just be careful that your room for part of your february vacation does not disappear!! That your room isn't snapped up :eek:while you are booking September~

That is a worry. Not even sure September will happen...just checking our options.

Thank you!

I think that would be my biggest fear. In order to borrow those 2010 UY points for a Sept vacation, you have to free them up first by canceling them out of your Feb 2011 vacation.

Not sure how many you need, but remember, you can always "buy" up to 24 from Disney to complete the reservation. That would give you 39 with the 15 you currently have available.

I have done this. You just have to make sure that you get a knowledgeable vacation advisor to help you and explain to them clearly your fears on makeing/changing this reservation.

Technically you cannot just sub one point for another but you could "cancel" and rebook the days to change out the points. The computer system will apparently allow the direct swapping of points without the cancelation however so it varies with the CM you get on the call. There certainly is a risk you'll lose the reservation and as such, you might be better looking for discounts or renting distressed points from another member for Sept.
