Flying into Tampa. Husband taking cab to Clearwater Airport to pick up minivan. I will stay back with family and luggage. Before you ask, yes it's worth it. It's $187 total with taxes ans fees for a 14 day rental vs. over $1000 if we rent from Tampa.

Enterprise offers free additional drive for spouse, but since I won't be with him, I cannot be added.

When he comes back to Tampa to pick us up, would I be able to then go to the Enterprise counter and add myself as a driver for free?

Unless policies have changed, he should be able to add you when he gets the van with a copy of your driver's license and if your last name is the same. If not, they should be able to add you on if you go to any Enterprise RAC location.

Good to know, I didn't know that. I will give hima copy. If he can't, we will add in Tampa.

ths is the Enterprise policy for additional drivers.

All additional drivers must meet all renter requirements.
Appear at the rental counter with the primary renter.
Present a valid driver's license.
Present a major credit card in their name at the time of rental, or meet the locations cash qualifications requirements.
An additional daily fee will apply for Additional Drivers.
Note: There is no additional driver fee in the US or Canada for a spouse, domestic partner (either same or opposite sex), or surrogate driver for a mobility impaired renter.

And yes, the additional driver can be added at any Enterprise location.

Sorry, but I worked for ERAC 5 years ago and we added spouses all the time with a copy of a license. I added my boyfriend on (different last name but same address) 6 months ago with a copy. Hence the note "unless the policy has changed". It doesn't hurt to try.

Yes it's worth it? So you are saving about $87? How much is the cab fare? Each way? And how about your time? And what if there is traffic? car accident? Unless I am missing something, this sounds like mistake written all over it.

Or is that $87.00 per day? Not clear from your post.

Sorry, I made a typo. It's over $1000 for a two week rental out of Tampa and only $187 for the two week rental with pick up in Clearwater Airport and drop off at Tampa Airport where we are flying home from. Cab fare is $45. So, yes, it's worth it !

I just rented from Enterprise in NY (due to automobile insurance repair) and was told that my wife could drive the vehicle. She was not with me and I did not have to submit her driver license.

I work for Enterprise Holding, Inc.(National side) now and this quote was from their website. I am sorry to hear that Enterprise employees are not following the guidelines.
