Can I Do This On The Disney Dining Plan

Although this is our 5th trip the DDP is new to us and I want to get this right in my head.

If I book an ADR at say the Coral Reef, my DD age 10 will not eat an adult meal, and would like a small childs meal, say a pizza. Can I use 4 of my tokens instead of 5 and pay for a childs meal for her. If I did this say 5 times during the holiday could I put those 5 tokens saved and use them towards a 2 token per person meal at the Polynesian Hawaiian Show.

Any views on the Hawaiian Show, is it worth going!?

Also my parents are coming with us and they are not big eaters at all. Can they order a childs meal if they dont want an adults?? They are not on the DDP.

Also with the DDP what are the extra's I need to pay at the end of the meal. Is tax included? I know I have to add about 15% gratuity is that correct.

We are really looking forward to some fantastic dining experiences. My only problem is that we are spoilt for choice. Any must do's??

Yes. You can always pay cash for anyone's meal you like. Since your child is 10 and gets adult credits, those credits can be used for anyone in the party to buy adult meals. You would probably not want to do this at buffets, all you can eat family style restaurants, fixed price meals or the dinner show you are considering attending, as she will be charged an adult price at those no matter what she eats. It seems that all your reservations except Coral Reef, Whispering Canyon and Prime Time Cafe fall into those categories - that would save you three credits, not five.

it's up to each individual restaurant, but most likely they would be accommodated. They will not be able to pay a child price at a buffet, family style all you can eat, dinner show or fixed price restaurant though.

I think your parents would be happier sharing a meal - the childrens meals are small portions and fairly limited choice.

These choices are not good for sharing meals (many buffets/family style meals), and not that great for trying to save credits, either...at 'Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, Tusker House & Cinderella's Royal Table you will pay the same price regardless of how much you eat (and all adults, age 10 & over, will be charged for an adult meal, even if they choose to eat off the children's buffet area or children's menu...if they are allowed to order off the children's menu.) Cinderella's Royal Table will cost you 2 credits per person, by the way, so your schedule is already using 8 credits for 7 meals.

Have you checked the menus and added up what you might be ordering? It almost sounds like it could be less expensive to just pay cash for all your meals since so many in your party would not be wanting to order full-sized meals anyway...might be worth it to check the prices & do the math.
