Hi everybody,

I am finally returning to my favourite place on earth with my husband after our last Orlando trip which was September 2001! :yay:
So the reason I am posting is, the last time we were in Orlando, I was so afraid to do any of the coasters, I just got it into my head that they are just too much for somebody as cowardly as me! :scared:
Having said all that my husband and I went to DLP on a couple of trips since the Orlando trip and he managed to convince me to ride RnR coaster. The only reason I agreed was because it was indoors so I couldn't see what I was letting myself in for! :lmao:
Anyway, I absolutely loved it but I am still so scared of doing "outdoor" coasters, I suppose they just seem too exposed for me! I really want to do them on this trip as I know my husband would be so proud of me, so bearing in mind I did RnR and loved it, do you think I could take it one step further and ride the outdoor coasters or are they a lot scarier? Any thoughts or tips would be really appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Sure you can! You can ride Dueling Dragons and Hulk at IOA and ROTM at the Studios. The only thing I would recommend is not to watch them for too long...just take a deep breath and go for it! If you watch too long, you might psyche yourself out.

Hi Metro west,

Thanks for the words of encouragement! I really hope I can face my fear and do them. I know I will regret it if I don't. If I faced my fear of heights last year and climbed to the top of the Sydney harbour bridge then I suppose there's no excuses this time!

P.S. I am a proud redhead too! :)

I'm the same way,dark-inside ride no problems..Outside 150ft lift hills, there is my problem..

I found two ways to deal with this:

1>Make sure someone is talking to me the whole time we are going up

2>I have wore my kids I-Pod and never looked down(the music disrtacts me)

If you go too US try ROTM-a darkride that will build your courage up for the bigger ones at IOA.Donn't start with the Hulk at IOA.Try DD 1'st and work your way up to The Hulk!!:thumbsup2

Like Metro stated, donn't talk yourself out of it!!!!!

Are you a real redhead? Most of the Proud Redheads aren't redheads at all. We are considered the redheaded stepchildren of the DIS so we were annointed Proud Redheads by the Tag Fairy.

Just remember...Dueling Dragons is TWO coasters...not one. Make sure you ride Fire and Ice. I prefer Fire...just thought you'd like to file that away for future reference.

Hi Donaldduck352,

You have summed up perfectly the way I look at the indoor/outdoor coasters! That is some very good advice so thank you! I hope I can log on here in a few months and say I faced my fear of outdoor coasters with help from you nice disboards people! :)

Metro west, thanks for clearing up the "proud redhead" thing. I was wondering why some disboards members had it on their profiles! I am actually a real redhead so that means I don't qualify!!! :rotfl:

My husband did ride duelling dragons "fire" last time when we were there and he loved it so I hope I will too if I manage to get on it!

Oh no problem...lots of people don't know what it means. :thumbsup2

Well work calls for now but I shall check back later with you all!

Take care and thanks again for the advice!

I always assumed it was some cult I wasn't cool enough to be invited to join.

Ber- when are you visiting FL?

Nah...just happened to be in the right place at the right time. If I remember correctly, I was in bed when the tags were given. BTW...I noticed you lost yours when you changed the wording.

Those tags were ancient, so when I arose from my slumber I felt that it was time for a change.

May I please tag onto this thread?

I am wondering about Dr. Doom. I really enjoy Tower of Terror and enjoyed Mail Boomer when I was in DL (even if I was somewhat terrified waiting for it to launch). How does Dr. Doom compare to these? If I can handle ToT and Mail Boomer (with some, fun, fear), can I handle Dr. Doom?

Dr. Doom is pretty much the same thing as Maliboomer (without those horrible Sneeze guard things), so you should be fine.

Seriously - what is up with those sneeze guards? We decided that they were to protect us from birds flying into our heads - hey it made about as much sense as anything else!

Thanks for the reassurance.

Hi Slacking

We are heading to Orlando on the 14th of October for 16 nights! I just cannot wait, to say I am excited is putting it mildly. :yay:

Just wondering since the Studios is getting a new coaster next year, and as we get closer to 2010, the operational status of Dueling Dragons seems to be in question in regards of retheming.

But as others have said, definitely start with Mummy, and then move on to the coasters at IOA.

Hi Slacking,

Thanks for the tip. I really hope I don't chicken out when I actually get there. That's exactly what I did last time as soon as I saw the outdoor coasters. They are so intimidating looking especially for somebody like me who is generally scared of their own shadow!

That`s what happened to me last year with the Hulk. I was so determined to go on it but when I saw it.... well. DH and DS stood for about a minute while I thought about it, then they couldn`t wait any longer as there was no queue.
But   I chickened out big time, and the more I watched it the more convinced I couldn`t do it I became.
I sat on the pillar sobbing a little because I was angry with myself for not doing it, but by then had convinced myself the whole galaxy would crumple if I went on:confused3
Soooooooooooo.... this year I`m going to try my very best, going to go on Rocknroller coaster at DHS first and hope that kinda leads me in to it...gently.
I love TOT and The Mummy, I think it`s purely the height thing which is why I could never ever attempt DD.
I understand your fears though, it`s horrible being frightened. Good luck when you go. I`ll post back on here and let you know what it`s like if you`re still around when I get back. :) :)
