Ok kids, I got back a little less than 2 weeks ago and frankly I just don't feel like doing the whole typical dining report. I figure it's still worth posting some stuff and reviews because it was so recent. Last time I did my dining report in conjunction with my trip report but we all know the food is more important (we DO all know that right? :rotfl: ) so I'm going to try to get everything foodwise done tonight! Let's see how I do.

Oh sidenote, I'm going to just go ahead and list where I ate in this very first post so anyone who wants to can see it and then figure out if they care to read further.

Day 1- Be Our Guest, Beaches and Cream
Day 2- Sunshine Seasons, Le Cellier
Day 3- Yak and Yeti (dessert and drink only), Casey's Corner
Day 4- Backlot Express, 50's Prime Time (app and drink only), Sci Fi Drive In
Day 5- Wolfgang Puck Express, Yachtsman Steakhouse
Day 6- Goods Food to Go, Food and Wine festival and Liberty Inn
Day 7- Crystal Palace

Here we go!

Ok day 1.. Be Our Guest. I really didn't have much of a plan to go here. I refused to sit in that line, I wasn't super thrilled with the dinner choices enough to try to get in. I figured I'd walk by and if the line was tolerable I'd go in. Well I ended up getting the FP invite for it and was like "BOOM this is my in!"

I preordered the Carved Prime Chuck Roast Beef Sandwich - served warm on a baguette with horseradish sour cream and Pomme Frites (thank god for copy and paste). When I did my preorder, it was actually really impressive to me that they had it set up where I could say "No horseradish" and also no veggies because apparently there's some kind of veggie something or other on there normally. I also preordered *trumpets* the Grey stuff! I think it's called the Master's Cupcake.

So I get there and there's a big sign "We are full to capacity for lunch" but I said "Hey FP!" and managed to piss off a group of like 50 people as I was allowed through.

I went in and tapped my magic band, my order came up and I was sent in to pick my table and just had to put my receipt on the table. I was a little afraid someone would try to steal my table but no other bothered it. I got my drink and silverware and really pretty quickly was served.

I sat in the ballroom...

...next to the window. The snow actually falls and blows around, its a great effect.

Honestly I figured the quality of the food was going to be pretty bad. I am so glad to say I was dead wrong. That sandwich was fantastic. It was on a soft baguette bread, the beef was well cooked and so tender and it had a garlic butter or something on the roll. It was also a really sizable sandwich which I did manage to pack about 80% of away. Unfortunately the fries were fries. Lukewarm at best, way oversalted.

The Master's Cupcake..I will admit this was my main reason for even bothering with the FP here. I had to try the grey stuff! And it was delicious! The cupcake itself was pretty basic, and a normal size unlike a lot of the cupcakes at Disney. The grey stuff which serves as the frosting reminded me a little of cool whip but richer and not as greasy, but not as heavy as a buttercream. It definitely has a cookies and cream flavor but not an overwhelming smack you over the head level of it. I savored that cupcake like it was my last ever. What I wouldn't give to have a bowl of that at home.

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/...1-AF78-4486-991E-6377C9769BD1_zpsvevzyd0j.jpg

So once the hype hopefully calms down I'd definitely go back for this meal again. I was pleasantly surprised. :cool1:

Another new place to me (you'll see a bit of a recurring theme with new places) was Beaches and Cream. I was supposed to go last trip but that time I was so full and it was so hot I'd lost my appetite and couldn't be bothered leaving Epcot to go over. I got to the Beach Club pretty early and the restaurant wouldn't actually check me in early. Politely I was told to come back closer to my reservation time. Which OK I get it but at the same time it presents an odd front to a customer in my opinion.

I ended up calling home and that wasted the time pretty well. I really didn't realize how small that place is from pictures and they do a good job of packing people in (not in a bad way, just an efficient way). I ended up at the counter which was fine with me because I was right by where they put together all the ice cream so I got to watch.

They were making a banana split!

I ordered the grilled cheese with fries (I'm not a soup gal really). I love a good grilled cheese and this one was honestly probably the best grilled cheese I've ever had. It was bigger than my face, and the cheese blend was fantastic. I asked and was told it was asiago, provolone, white cheddar, gruyere, manchego and garlic and herb Rondele spread (all of which my grocery store has). It was all shredded so it blended together and every bite had all the flavors. The fries were decent here, the same kind as at Be Our Guest but definitely fresher. It was a huge serving.

Look at that oozing cheese.

I got the brownie a la mode for dessert and dear lord... so much food. I was really full by that point and figured there was no way I could do the sundae and thought "ok this costs less so it must be smaller!" Wrong..so wrong. The brownie was enormous, the scoop of ice cream was huge, plus the whipped cream and hot fudge. Oy. I did my best guys but I only managed to get through about half of it. The brownie was a little cakey for me, I like the fudgier type but it was still good. The hot fudge was hot enough to be steaming which I love because I like the hot and cold mix on a dessert.

I paid out of pocket here and it really wasn't badly priced, I would absolutely go again.

OK my dinner for tonight is done and is looking so pathetic right now so I'll be back later and see if I can finish this out!

On to day 2:

I was at Epcot and planned to stick to the front half of the park and do the back half a few days later. I hit The Land first and tend to spend a lot of time in there so I figured Sunshine Seasons was the way to go for lunch. I'm always a little leery of saying I'm going to eat there. Why, you ask? Go ahead...ask. I'll wait.... I'm a super picky eater and depending on what they're serving I may or may not be interested in going. They actually had stuff I was willing to eat this time so it worked out in my benefit.

I had the oak rotisserie chicken with a side of white cheddar mashed potatoes. The chicken was good, moist and a big portion (my other reason I do like to try to eat here), but a little on the greasy side which I can't figure out. The potatoes were good but would have been way better if they were more than lukewarm. It would have been something that I would have sent back in a sit down restaurant for a warm portion but I just can't be bothered at a counter service like that.

For dessert I had the key lime tart. I'm a sucker for anything key lime but this was the only key limey thing I had on the entire trip. It was pretty good, tart which is what I like but the mountain of meringue was unneeded and pretty flavorless. I think they only put it on there to make it look bigger.

http://i819.photobucket.com/albums/...0-5E30-46A4-9445-74E869EF7137_zpsje3xusaq.jpg

Sunshine Seasons is always going to be a place I recommend because its got a good selection for people that aren't picky and the portions are great. For me it's really just a handy place that I'm always ok with.

I had another 1st time for dinner with Le Cellier. For years I've heard the raving and the ranting and the I love it but I hate it and they changed it they suck but I still go blah blah blah... I figured hey, I like steak.

The unfortunate thing was they were running 30-40 minutes behind. I actually took the time to go through O Canada (I'd never seen it before) rather than just sitting there waiting. A lot of people with ADRs walked away when they heard they were that far behind which I thought was interesting. Its not a reservation you take on a whim and with the cancellation policy...I was boggled.

I got my typical Coke to drink which I swear makes the signature dining servers shutter that I can talk all fancy about their food but eat it with that to drink.

Can I just say I want glowing menus at every place I go now?

My bread came and that was nice because at that point I was ready to get my grub on (god I'm so classy). I know everyone raves about the pretzel bread but my work sells a roll that's fresh baked and nearly identical to this version so I wasn't seeing angels or anything. The other bread was really good though, some kind of whole grain and a sourdough. The butter had sea salt and maple sugar, going after my sweet and salty heart.

Does anyone else have to come home and explain why they took pictures of butter?

I was fighting with myself over which steak to get. I'm very picky about how much fat my meat has and will make my dinner look like an autopsy if I see anything I can't chew. I ended up with the filet because I rarely have problems with chucks of chewy stuff or gristle when I get it. I got it medium rare which was perfect for me. I did swap out the side for the roasted potatoes. Had there been mashed potatoes I would have gotten them. The steak was great but the potatoes...ugh how can you do that to potatoes? Overseasoned and completely dried out. I hate to say it but I think that's actually how they were intended to be.

0BE98A89-69BB-45C9-BD04-E3C3275A5250_zpsl99fvwjg.jpg

Dessert was a little vexing. I really wanted the meyer lemon tort but I absolutely hate cherries so that was out. I debated the creme brulee but I've come to learn I like the idea of creme brulee but not the actual food, plus I like maple but not when it's over powering. I ended up with the Smoking Chocolate Mousse Grand Marnier, Almond Crunch, Cinnamon Marshmallow, Dark Chocolate Bark (yeah I copied and pasted again). This was not at all what I was expecting. They bring it with a glass dome over the plate with legit smoke. I sort of figured they were implying there was like...a chocolate cigarette on there or something. I think the almond crunch was the crust which was a little hard to get through but tasted good. The mousse was good if not a hair strong on the Grand Marnier. The cinnamon marshmallows were yummy but very sticky. I don't really know how to describe it any better. It was good but not all flavors I would have put together.

For me the best part of the meal was my server Hayley. She was so nice and sincere about it, more that willing to answer any questions I had. The servers around me seemed nice too, but they all had that glazed over scripted response thing going on. I was pleased enough that when I left I asked for a manager. The reaction there was interesting because all the kids at the desk tensed right up when I asked to speak to someone, so I'm like "uh chill out...it's a good thing". They were visibly nervous when I first brought it up which scares me on their behalf, I can only imagine what crap they've had to deal with that would cause them to have that reaction. The manager came out with the same kind of "What am I going to have to smooth over" look and seemed very relieved when I said I just wanted to compliment my server. He told me she was actually a fairly new cast member and was glad to hear she was doing so well. She was one of 3 cast members I complimented on my trip which is a little off topic but it frightens me that the managers always seem so surprised that it's happening. I know compliments go a long way for them and I get the impression a lot of people don't take the time to do it.

Day 3 was an oddball day. I spent the first part of it at Animal Kingdom, the middle at the concierge desk (haha it sounds bad but there was just something that took a long time to figure out) then the night at MK for the halloween party. I couldn't see using a sit down credit for the day and knew I was going to Casey's Corner for dinner. The options at Animal Kingdom do nothing for me so I didn't go in with a plan other than my 2 things at Yak and Yeti.

Going through the menus and reports and reviews..I knew I had to try the famous cream cheese wantons at Yak and Yeti. I justified getting just a dessert by adding alcohol....:lmao: That's a complete meal right?

I was seated pretty quickly for a walk up near lunch time. I told the server straight off I would be in and out quickly and was only there for 2 things. I ended up with the Yak Attack, a frozen mango/wildberry drink but I couldn't tell you what liquor was in it anymore. I didn't know it was frozen when I ordered it either.

6F6D8A3D-D6B9-4518-ADD4-54FB3994E88B_zpsnhjhrvpk.jpg

I also wasn't expecting it to be so big either.

I should not have has as much as I did. Especially after my server says "I could have put it in a to go cup...you didn't have to try to chug it" Oops.

This, however, was awesome I'd been looking forward to this dessert for awhile. I love pineapple so it was right up my alley. The wontons and filling were great, the sauce wasn't too much. The pineapple was a bit sour but with everything else it was fine. I really liked the dessert as a whole bite, but wish the items would be cut smaller so doing it as a combination was easier.

I don't foresee going back to Yak and Yeti just for these items but I'm glad I went and tried them.

For dinner like I said, Casey's Corner. I might have been sort of starved at that point and looking back I realized I did not take any pictures. You don't really need pictures of it right? Let's all pull a Figment and use our imaginations! I got the corn dog nuggets (I love those things) and fries, and the brownie for dessert. The nuggets didn't fail me and were hot and nummy and there's like 9 of those little chucks of heaven in that cup so I think they're worth it. My first good fries of the trip where here but that brownie....was....disgusting. I didn't realize it was a prepacked brownie when I got it. For some reason I thought it was like a fresh one on a plate and don't ask why I had that in my head. It was more like a bland dense piece of chocolate cake that was both dry and oily at the same time. I took one bite and tossed it. I just need to learn to get the cotton candy and hand it off to someone or the crackerjack and throw it in my bag for my flight home. I do wish they had different options there.

Day 4 was Hollywood Studios. I was sort of apprehensive about this day because *shocker* I had another first time place on my list. Like Animal Kingdom, I find Hollywood Studios to be kind of "meh" as far as food.

For lunch I ended up at Backlot Express. I was in the mood for a burger so I got one. It's a burger. I can't really say much about it aside from the bun wasn't the weird foamy rolls I encountered a few years back and it was warm. I got it with only cheese on it, and fries which were underdone.

5850483F-E2BF-4226-AE89-B9A2F63C0C76_zpsmxsb87aq.jpg

I also had the chocolate mousse which was rich but actually not bad. It'd be better as a cupcake topping or filling but if you're looking for chocolate its not a bad way to go.

I've gone to 50's Prime Time for dinner my past 4 trips...and I'm always sort of let down each time. Its really more about the atmosphere for me, the food has always been pretty mediocre. On my 2007 trip I got the fried cheese appetizer expecting something like a mozzarella stick and..brace yourselves...had no idea the magic they were actually trying to serve me. I didn't eat it. Fast forward a few months and I start working as a cheesemonger and realize "omg, this is the cheese from that appetizer! this is awesome!...AND I DIDN'T EAT IT WHEN IT WAS FRIED GOLDEN BROWN AND DELICIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!' then my 2008 trip rolls around and it was off the menu. Apparently waiting and whining about it to myself paid off because it was added back to the menu! I figured I could get this magical cheese dish and a drink at the bar and still get my experience!!

Yeah..not so much. I got my cheese, my delicious little fried garlic boursin with raspberry which sounds like a weird combo but man it's like awesome witchcraft, but the bartenders were so boring and the only sort of typical acting I heard was the people seating the meal guests. Even that trickled off the longer I sat there. I also got Grandmas Punch which was nice if not a little sweet. I fought with myself over which drink to get between that, the Mowie Wowie and the Electric Lemonade.

04D8B294-4DC5-46C5-B2CB-543BD4185EF0_zpsqye1ioaz.jpg

I started to bust into that cheese before I took a picture.

The cheese was awesome. I love Boursin anyway, but fried just makes it so much better! The crostini would be better if they were smaller pieces but one makes do. I got some weird looks from the people next to me when they realized I was eating garlic cheese with raspberry sauce and grapes.

So I had the opposite experience to what I normally have at 50's PT. Food? Awesome, but I was really missing the banter and play.

Dinner was at Sci Fi drive in. I have heard so many mixed reviews of this place I didn't know what to expect. I figured based on the menu it'd be fine because of my pickiness. I waited like 10 minutes to be seated and ended up in one of the stretch limos at the far back behind a group of 4.

I know everyone says "its dark in there! You can't see anything.'' They're right. Its friggin dark in there. The lightning also really does not make the food look appetizing. I ordered the steak, again medium rare but without the blue cheese butter because ew.

CCEA52DA-1F70-407C-8B6D-AF18E447DFDB_zpsibe6onxq.jpg

I messed with the picture so you can see it better.

The steak was cooked well, seasoned well...but it goes back to what I've always said about steaks in restaurants. It's all in the cut. You can't blame a server or cook for a bad cut of meat if that's all they have to work with. I had a really hard time finding clean sections to eat and the people in front of me had the same issue. The girl that ordered hers well actually sent it back because she was sawing at the meat trying to get through it. The mashed potatoes were sort of pathetic for the little dollop you get, I didn't try the veggies that are hidden under there. Here's the weird thing right? I don't like onions, but I love the smell of onion rings. I decided I could at least take a little trial bite and lo and behold I actually liked them. I think it was because the onion wasn't super strong and it wasn't slimy like I've had and hated back when I was still willing to try them. I shocked the heck out of my friends when I said I ate an onion.

27290129-4847-47E2-A71C-23EEADCF28F4_zpsmmxnxcf1.jpg

I'd had so many chocolate based desserts I decided to go a different route. This was a warm donut (apparently Krispy Kreme) with like apple pie filling and vanilla ice cream with some caramel sauce. It was pretty good, the apples were good, the donut was a bit stale but that could have been the reheating, but all together with the ice cream it was nice. Too much to finish, at least for me but a nice break from chocolate.

I wouldn't go back to Sci Fi again, but I also didn't really HATE it. There's room for improvement but if that'll ever happen? Who knows

I had to give my fingers a little break. I'm back now and I'm going to try to wrap it up.

Day 5 was my day "off". I did some shopping at Downtown Disaster..I mean Disney *ahem*.

I decided to hit Wolfgang Puck Express for lunch and actually had a hard time deciding on what to have. Since I'd been eating so much meat I figured pasta would be a nice break. I'm a weirdo and don't eat sauce on my pasta, just butter, oil and or cheese. I figured ravioli would be best and after sort of back handedly comparing me to children the girl that took my order said they could do just butter on them. I got my drink and sat down, and waited maybe 10 minutes for my meal.

3AD42474-FD69-412D-9D92-DE1078D0AC50_zpsdvpyyzdx.jpg

These were actually pretty good, but frankly not much different than any good quality frozen ravioli. I'd have to assume that the sauce they usually put on really makes the dish but I was perfectly happy with what I got. If I could have changed anything I would have just liked some melted cheese or something on there.

For dessert I had the cheesecake. It was good cheesecake. Nothing remarkable but nothing to complain about.

WPE is another place I always recommend. There really is something for everyone and if you're using a quick service credit you can't beat it.

Dinner was what I was really looking forward to. Yachtsman Steakhouse. I love my steak. I would gnaw on a cow under the right circumstances and maybe a salt and pepper shaker. Yet another first time place so I wasn't super sure what to expect but I'd heard nothing but good things about this place. I was very happy to walk in and see a room full of meat.

AD25C3E5-6C30-4A64-847F-1479D3A530BE_zpskw5khl7s.jpg

Like really. A room of meat.

Can we just have a little side track that there's totally a market for a pick your own steak concept, like the pick your own lobster places? It'd be fantastic.

Anyway, I was pretty quickly seated, but ended up in this weird little alcove with one table it in but room for a second with the nearest table a solid 5 ft away. It was weird in good ways and bad, good that I felt like I was watching a fish tank of people without being in with them but bad in that I sort of felt like I was in time out.

C2032EB8-8474-4068-A039-7297766DED7C_zps0lhqd0i1.jpg

This was my view.

My server was super nice and thought it was great that I was comfortable coming to eat by myself but didnt want to rush. He brought over my bread and butter along with my drink.

So the bread... I've read about these rolls, the famous onion pull apart rolls. I've already told you my feeling with onion, not usually my thing. Luckily they weren't really onion flavored, just sort of onion.....enhanced. Yeah, enhanced. There was a normal roll in here somewhere too. I managed to eat the whole basket myself. It wasn't hard once the server said the best way to eat it was to mix the roasted garlic and butter together. I wasn't sure how I felt about the roasted garlic in the first place because I figured it would be too strong with the onion. It was so mild and sweet though..and really with the butter the combination on the bread was delightful evil feeling.

What I wouldn't do for one of those rolls right now. Like really you probably don't want to know what I'd do for one of those rolls. Klondike bars have no idea what's up.

I decided to opt for the filet again, basically the same reasons I did at Le Cellier, plus then I could sort of compare them against each other.

9E8136B1-BA8E-48F4-A634-6FEBD59FB268_zpscjkfcyld.jpg

I'm making Homer Simpson noises right now. If the Le Cellier steak was sent by angels, this steak was sent by the devil to torture me with its delicious meaty memory, taunting me that I will never be able to get my hands on another steak like this until the next time I go back. It was listed as 8 oz but felt bigger than that, and was so tender and flavorful. Just :lovestruc . I could almost cut it with my fork. The potatoes were good too. It's weird because their texture was similar to boxed instant mashed potatoes, like incredibly smooth, but richer and denser. They were nice against the earthiness of the steak.

For dessert I opted for creme brulee. And I have finally realized that I just don't like creme brulee. I love the idea of it...but its never the texture or taste or flavor that my brain has decided it should be and always end up disappointed with it.

D848FE23-8E3A-47BE-B67F-CB632AC70D47_zpsddtmyo2u.jpg

First of all this thing was colossal. Look at the size of the berries compared to it. There would be no problem splitting this between 2 people. Also splitting would probably be a good route because it was so rich. I ate the lower right hand corner with some of the berries and just had to give up. Not even because I didn't like it (not because it was bad, just because its not my thing) but after all the bread and the meal, there was no way I could have eaten anymore even if I did enjoy it. This one was pretty dense, flavorful and a bit eggy, very thin sugar layer (which I'm told is all desirable traits).

I would absolutely go back here. Ok let's be honest, I'd move into that meat room if I could. They could charge people to take picture of the crazy girl that lives in the meat room and that would pay for my rent.

OK we're coming into the home stretch...

I'm combining a little bit into this section that actually happened on my first Epcot day because it's all food and wine stuff and I figured it'd be easier.

That morning I completely wasted a counter service credit at Good's Food to Go. I don't know why I thought I had an extra but I said "Ok I'll get breakfast before my tour" (context: I did undiscovered futureworld which I'll go into when I actually do a trip report). It was a drizzly morning so there was only 2 other people waiting for food when I got there. Anyone who's not familiar with this place, its the only counter service option at OKW. It's literally just a counter and there's some seating outside.

I got under the roof and ordered, the CM working acted like she was doing me a favor by taking the order. There's a whopping 3 or 4 options here so I ended up with the breakfast platter. Eggs, bacon, a biscuit, something else I don't even remember. It was such a pathetic plate I didn't take a picture. The food was all hot, but it was either so bland or so salty it was basically inedible. I threw 80% of it away.

After my tour, which ended at China in World Showcase, I started my Food and Wine Experience...

OK I'm sort of lying. On my first Epcot day, I cheated a little. I was heading back to Canada and walked past the Greek booth. I wanted the griddled cheese they had and there was still a little wait til dinner (then with it being late I'm glad I did get this to hold me over). Since this was a Saturday night, every line I passed was long. They were moving pretty quickly though. I ordered my griddled cheese which was a greek cheese (I think Kasseri, it tasted like a sheep's milk cheese) with honey and pistachios. The ones they were handing out had been sitting for a few minutes because they started to set up, I'm not sure if that's how they were intended or not. It was firm enough that I just folded it up and took bites of it. I enjoyed it because the salty and the sweet and the little bit off crunch from the nuts was nice, but it definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea if only because the cheese isn't what it seemed everyone expected. I know I took a picture of it but I can't seem to find it.

After that I decided a Welsh Dragon was in order. I had one on my last trip and loved it. This time...enh. First of all the Rose and Crown was packed. Like no room to walk packed. I managed to push my way into a line and waited probably 15 minutes to even order. The bartender had about 4 people he was waiting on and most of them had multiple drink orders so it was a little painful standing there. I got the drink and bolted out of there and walked back to Canada, fighting my way through this throng of people and managing to find this little abandoned area behind a kiosk. I parted myself against a wall and charged my phone. The drink was actually disappointing this time around. I don't know if this one was made wrong or the first one I had was wrong. There was so much mint in this one it really over powered the other flavors. I couldn't bring myself to walk back and try to fight through the crowd to get another so I drank about half of it.

8FFE8289-8ABA-4E77-BA75-7079EA07C71B_zpseqlnievf.jpg

I'm a bit skittish about trying it there again, unless I could talk to the bartender first and ask which way was correct. I have all the ingredients at home so it might just be one that I have to make my version of to be happy.

The lesson learned that night is NEVER GO TO FOOD AND WINE ON A WEEKEND. Holy crap, the amount of blatantly drunk, rude, unkempt, rude, trashy "Who the **** cares there's kids around I want a ****ing drink dude" people was such a turn off it was unreal. I get that that's when the locals go but is it really such an unrealistic expectation to keep your crap together and respect that there are still families and people on legit vacation around? Not everyone was like this but dear lord the ones that were left an impression.

OK off my soapbox and on to my weekday experience. After my tour..blah blah....ok I walked through towards Mexico and decided to try the Sweet Corn Cheesecake. I was really clueless what to expect with this and I was surprised with myself that I was willing to try it (pickiness and all). It was actually fantastic. It was texturally just like a normal cheesecake if not a little rougher but not gritty. There was a fresh corn flavor to it, and it was sweet and corny the way that corn bread is. It wasn't savory, definitely a dessert. It had some whipped cream and I believe dulce de leche on it. The portion was pretty generous too.

I ended up going to the Festival center and bumming around a little because it was pouring outside. I didn't think there was much to see there and it made me sad for Wonders of Life. I did find this beauty in the Gharadelli section though.

All out of chocolate. This was like 1 of 5 different displays.

After that I circled back around starting at Canada again.

I decided to go for the dessert trio. This was a bit of a disappointment. They must have them all sitting in a fridge waiting to go because everything had condensation on it and came across like what you'd get at a cafeteria. Starting on the left was a blueberry lime roll, which was good but not horribly flavorful. The middle was some kind of mango or passionfruit creamsicle thing that was disgusting. The right was an opera cake that had a chocolate and coffee flavor. It was easier to pick that up and just eat it as a giant bite than to bother with a fork. The cake was good but would have been better not fresh out of the fridge.

Next was the warm chocolate pudding with kerrygold cream sauce from Ireland. I used to sell a lot of Kerrygold products so I know the quality and flavor of it (and actually described the cheese plate to probably 10 people over the course of my Epcot days). The pudding was more like a very moist, dense, almost undercooked but in a good way cake with the warm cream sauce over it. The sauce had some kind of booze in it but I don't remember what it was. The portion was tiny but with it being as rich as it was I wouldn't have wanted it to be bigger. A lot of people passed it up seeing my plate though.

Next up was the Beef Bourgignon from France. Honestly I thought it looked a bit like catfood but it was so flipping good. A slow roasted short rib with the sauce and the mashed potatoes. I could have killed a full portion of that, no problem. The meat was so tender and flavorful, like melt in your mouth good. I don't know if I timed it right with a fresh batch or what but that was definitely a highlight of that day foodwise.

Then Belgium, with the waffle. This was a complete waste for me. I was debating between the chocolate and the fruit one, decided the fruit one looked cheap and thought "chocolate is always good". Meh, nope. The waffle was hot, but incredibly bland. There was a little drizzle of thin chocolate sauce and a buttload of whipped cream, and the blandness of the waffle managed to overtake and dull everything else.

I made a really bad decision after this...I spent so much time in the store in Japan I didn't think I'd have enough time to hit the other booths I wanted to and get back to Italy for my reserved spot for Illuminations (another perk of the tour). I decided to just stop at Liberty Inn for dinner. I realized that because I used that credit I thought was extra for breakfast that I had to pay for this meal. I ended up with the chicken nuggets because I had a brainfart and basically picked the first thing I knew I'd eat. I didn't take a picture because with the fries it was just a big pile of beige. The nuggets were fine, the fries were fine but certainly nothing to write home about.

I unfortunately missed the ravioli in Italy (I was full from dinner and clearly wasn't thinking I WAS PASSING THROUGH THE STUPID AREA ANYWAY SO WHY DIDN'T I JUST WAIT?!?!?!?!?) and the Cheese bread things in Brazil. Oh the lambchop in Australia too. I blame the rain and the last full day blues on bad decision making.

Ha I'm actually going to accomplish this one night lark.

So last day. Breakfast at Crystal Palace. I needed at least 1 buffet in there right? And breakfast food that didn't suck!!

I couldn't tell you the last time I had a breakfast buffet at Disney so I was super excited (yeah I'm a loser for breakfast food).

First plate was this guy.

Starting at the biscuit...a biscuit (duh), Poohs Puffed French Toast, breakfast potatoes, butter balls (literally balls of butter), and a chocolate croissant and Mickey waffle in the middle. The biscuit was good but I didn't find jelly for it (I love biscuits with strawberry jelly), the french toast was good, the potatoes were ok but I was expecting them to be crispy. The chocolate croissant was sort of gross and I forgot to get syrup for my waffle but it was good with just butter.

The bacon makes this plate look sad but it was good. The bacon was a little floppy but still yummy, the biscuit/bread thing on top was a savory biscuit with bacon chive and cheese if I remember correctly, the omelet had a buttload of cheddar in it, and the cinnamon roll was pretty basic but good.

This is the last picture guys :( Weird right?

A plain croissant which was waaay better than the chocolate one, some honey yogurt that wasn't great, yummy fresh fruit, and the littlest scoop of the breakfast lasagna. That wasn't good for me because it has bananas and I absolutely can't stand bananas. I tried to take some where I couldn't see any of that vile fruit but the flavor permeated through it anyway.

The real highlight of this meal wasn't the food. When the character attendants were telling me I was the next table I told them to pass me, there was a million kids waiting and it wasn't a huge deal for me to see the characters and get pictures. They all said "its ok, its not a big deal to stop for you" but I said to pass me anyway. I was just sitting down to my second plate when Winnie the Pooh decides he wasn't going to let me get away without a chat. He finished with a table then trots over to my table, pulls the chair across from me out and sat down. He put his head on his hand and stared at me, so I did it back. We played mimic back and forth for a minute until he put his hand in his mouth and got me to laugh. He asked how my food was (by pointing to my plate and rubbing his tummy) and I managed to have a solid 5 minute conversation with him. I had the surrounding adults staring at me, seemingly boggled how Pooh was suddenly my bestie and through gestures was conversing fluently back with me. I think he would have stuck around longer but I was like "well there's some kids over there that I think are waiting for you, it was nice to see you again" so I got a kiss on the head and off he went. It was really great character interaction.

So that's it guys. My whole trip worth of food in one night. Some lows, some highs, some missed opportunities. I bypassed a lot of my normal items ( Mickey bar, Dole Whip, funnel cake) which was like a 50/50 decision. There's places I'd go back to in a heartbeat, others I'm glad I at least tried, and some that I'm like "WHY DID I BOTHER!?" Hopefully you enjoyed this little whirlwind tour of mine :)

Loved the reviews. Thanks for your honest opinions and photos. Sounds like you had a delicious trip :thumbsup2

I enjoyed reading your review and seeing your photos. DH and I have rarely eaten at a table service restaurant at Disney (only 50's Prime Time and Akershush) as in the past we just weren't interested in "wasting time" to eat. We would just do a quick counter service and get on with our day.

But this trip coming up is with our DD and her family (plus her DH's parents). I had taken DD (she's 35) to Disney for the FIRST time a year ago and she loved it, so made plans for all of us to go and she has made several dinner reservations for us (Be Our Guest, Coral Reef, Crystal Palace, 50's, etc. etc. and we're really looking forward to doing Disney differently this time, and especially to be with our grandchildren (age 9 and 6 at the time of the trip).

Still have a couple table service reservations to make, trying to decide...so many good choices. :)

Great job! I love reading these food reviews! Sorry you had some misses, but you had some great ones too! And bummer about the waffle - I loved that thing!! Although maybe b/c it was steamy and chocolately and I wasn't getting poured on :)

Glad everyone has enjoyed so far.

I never expect everything to be a hit while I'm there, but it does always surprise me what does end up being the stand outs versus the misses.

I will even make the concession that, especially with food and wine booths, there's going to be a discrepancy between batches and when everyone gets to that booth. Even in the same batch what I get and what someone 20 people back in line gets are likely going to be different because one might be coming fresh off the line and one could have sat. I think its important for people to remember that going in. Something else like...let's say one sundae coming with tons of hot fudge and another in the same party coming with barely any, that's something to kvetch about.

Am I reading right that this has over 1000 views? :rotfl2:

Didn't believe I could do it, did ya?!

But seriously if anyone happens on this and has any questions, please feel free to send them along and I'll do my best to answer.

I'm going to say it. Your reviews complete me.

Was reading your Sept 2012 TR and you left me hanging!

Keep writing. I'll keep reading.
