So it's not a "Countdown to My Trip" Happy Dance, but I just scored tickets to Billy Joel and Elton John at Citizens Bank Park, my home field, in July!! Can I Happy Dance for that here?!

In 2006, I received Joel tickets as a Christmas surprise. Surprise, surprise, 1 appendectomy and major stomach virus later, I was bed ridden and my dad was at the concert - 2 blocks away! - holding up the phone so I could hear (I live 2 blocks from the sports complex in Philly). Last summer, I got tickets to both nights at Shea, and ended up going to the true Final Play.

I'm soooo excited!!  I just had to dance!!

Dance away! :cool1: I just found out that I got the tix too! My DSIL got them for me and my DH. It will be a great show! :cool1:

YAY! Congrats to you. I was able to get some before they sold out for our show in Cleveland. I'm totally excited too

Dance away!! :cool1: We are going too. And to think we get to see the show at CBP. I just love that place.

How exciting to know other DISers will be there! Maybe I should rock my LGMH everywhere now!

First I get to see my boys win on that field, and months later I get to see Billy. What a dream! Nothing could be sweeter than the fact that baseball spring training starts Friday for pitchers&catchers, AND Billy Joel! My dad works for the team so I could've gotten in regardless but still, I love it!

I also turn 21 in June, and am celebrating at the Sox game on either the 12th or 13th, and now Billy will just help me continue the Summer of 21!!

Where is everyone sitting?

You're Dad works for the Phillies? You are so lucky, as is he! Can't wait til' baseball starts. I have been suffering serious withdraw. How many games do you make it to a year? We go to about 10 at home. We usually try to go to an away game every season too.

I know, I love it! I go to I'd say upwards of 60 games a year. Because of his job we get full (free!) season tickets, from first day of Spring Training til WS Game 7! If you click the link to my Trip Report in my siggy, you can see all about my post season and parties with the players! I live 2 blocks away from CBP, so it's lovely!

OMG! That rocks! I am so jealous. I want to meet Shane!:lovestruc I'm gonna go read your trippie now.

I've seen both of them several times but never together. This will be a great show for you. When you consider the material even just one of them has and compare it to many other acts, there is no contest. Have a great time:)

Shane's usually pretty nice, he's always been nice to me. He's quite short though. I'm around 5' 8" and taller than both Shane and J-Roll!!

Wow! Your pictures are so awesome.:thumbsup2

Aww thank you! I was just snapping away. At that point (and up until Saturday really) I reeked of beer and champagne! But it seemed to go unnoticed, probably because everyone else smelled too! But it was the sweetest smell ever.

I'm excited! I've never seen Elton John, and I'm not quite a fan but I think it'll be nice to see him once. I could listen to Billy play forever, and I just can't wait!! :yay:

Dance! Dance! Dance! I am hoping to get my tix when they go on sale Saturday morning at 10.I went to the Billy Joel/ Elton John concert in Feb.2002 and missed the last hour because I was in labor with my twins.I thought I was in labor that day but had already been sent home twice for false labor so I made it to the concert and then to the hospital, nothing could stop me from being there  Looking forward to seeing the entire concert this time around

Yeah Shane does look really short. But, he has been my fave since he got here. I love your pics of the champagne. It's so neat that you have it from both views. That's awesome! So, who's the nicest Phillie?

Hands down Brad Lidge. At that afterparty I was waiting in line to see the trophy and I was the last one. He walked over to me - I thought he aws going to the bar - and said "Hey, is this the end of the trophy line?" So I said "Yep, I'm the last!" I was also the next person up. He responds with "Okay, thanks." And then proceeds to wait in line behind me! I turned around like 5 seconds later and was like "Wait, are you...are you waiting in line?!" And he was like "Yeah, you were in front of me so I have to wait." After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I practically threw him in front of me, telling him "If it wasn't for you, I'd be in line at Target, not at the World Series party! If you don't go in front of me I'll boo you and turn everyone against you I swear!" So he laughed and finally took my prodding and cut in front of me in line! I'd always liked him, but I fell in looooooooooove then! He's always been a really nice guy.

For all the hounding he gets by everyone, Ryan Howard is pretty sweet too. He just stopped at my dinner table and started talking with my dad like they're best buddies. They do see each other every day, but it was still funny. Geoff Jenkins is also a total sweetheart, and just chatted with me and my mom for like 10 minutes for no real reason, just small talk! It was niceeeee haha! The rooks are also pretty nice (for now), especially JA Happ. I'll be sad to see him leave if we ever trade him.

The champagne BURNED!! That wasn't the first time I suffered the wonderful wrath of Geoff's champagne. He also dumped an entire bottle over me and my best friend's head when we won the Division in September. My sunglasses are still speckled from it! I couldn't bear washing them yet, so I've been wearing other pairs.

Good Luck! What a way to give birth in style. It has to be something about Billy. My sister was pregnant with twins when I was 100 miles away seeing Billy at Shea. I told her belly for the entire pregnancy "you can't be born July 18th!" She went into labor at 10pm that night, and I got the phone call at 1am, after I fought an hour of foot traffic to the parking lot. I ran what seemed like halfway thru Queens, and made it home just after they were born. Two little boys, Gabriel and Christopher! This time, hopefully no one goes into labor. At least I'll be a lot closer to home!!

 I had a feeling you were going to say Lidge. That is too funny! Mr. Perfect Season is going to wait in line behind you to see the trophy he played such a part in winning. What a gentleman! That is really nice. Such a great story. Thanks for sharing. Ryan Howard looks like he'd be a sweetheart. Man I so envy your Dad, and you for that matter. Sorry, if I'm driving you nuts. I am just Phillies obsessed, and I found an insider. You always wonder what they're really like. Thanks so much for sharing your experiences, and awesome pics.:worship:

Yeah he was a total gentleman! I have some insane stories, many that can't be shared publicly on the DIS of their crazy antics. You're not bothering me at alllll! I'm just as obssessed and love talking about it for days. I see it as, I'm just a regular fan who happened to get super lucky because of her dad!

 I bet you do! Maybe you can write a book someday. That is so awesome. You are so lucky. I don't have any baseball fan friends. I have DH and his friends. Do you read or post on the Phils message board? I read, but never really post. Spring Training Tomorrow!!!

How exciting for you! When I was growing up my dad was a huge Philly fan. Not sure how that happened when you lived in the middle of the Cubs and the Cards, but Mike Schmidt and the Phillies were the be all end all of baseball. I remember seeing them play in Atlanta.

We have a large Jayson Werth connection. My kids go to school where he went and at one time we rented a house from his in-laws. He has been very generous with local charities and I certainly hope he is representing us well.

We are thinking about taking in the concert too. They first went on tour when I was pregnant with my DS14. My due date was the same week as the concert, 100 miles away, so unfortunately I wasn't able to go. I have seen Elton John a couple of times since then, but I have heard this is an amazing concert.

I do read the message boards, but I don't really ever post either. They'll eat you alive on that thing! I'm so excited for Spring Training. I can't believe it's really here. This was definitely the shortest off-season ever!! I guess that's what happen when you play until November and win the whole darn thing!

Awww, JWerth!! I like him. He's very hot and cold, sometimes he's been nice, sometimes not. I totally understand though, he's a normal guy too, and some days you're just in a grumpy mood. He's a great player, and I really hope we keep him for a while, I like him a lot. Hopefully he's making you guys proud! He's also the hairiest person I've ever met, ever.

Oh dear, why does Billy Joel seem to bring medical emergencies! I told everyone I was going to live in a bubble the month before the concert, and for two weeks prior I hand sanitized and Lysol wiped everything in sight! I'm not too much of an Elton fan myself, but it'll be nice to see him. And now I can publicly sing "hold me closer, Tony Danzaaaa!" without getting the odd looks (except from knowing Will&Grace fans!). I'm soo excited!!
