Can I check bottled Dr. Pepper on plane flying Southwest

I was near a woman in the security line a few years ago, the weekend of T-giving and she was carrying three homemade pecan pies. They took them, because they considered them to be "gel" like consistency.

So you cannot take every kind of food through security.

And boy, was she hot - she said the TSA was just looking for some good homemade pie for dessert.

The rules a few years ago were more stringent than they are now. With TSA, it's a moving target.

I was once the victim of someone elses broken perfume bottle. So, if you're checking any liquids, please, please, please, put the bottles in ziplock bags. I have no idea how much perfume this person had checked, but my bag and a couple of others were horribly fragrant. Fortunately, the stuff didn't leak into my clothing, etc., but I had to get rid of the bag.

Yes, but the question is can you take any food through security? I understood that TSA will not allow food through the security process and that the only food that can be taken on the plane must be purchased after the security checkpoint.

This isn't correct - they will allow you to carry anything on board that is not considered a liquid, gel or paste. You can carry through a ham sandwich with mustard on it but you would not be allowed to carry through a jar of mustard.
